Question about 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette
Two things happen. The gauge needle gets hung up and smacking the gauge witht he key on can break it loose. ( don't hit it too hard or you'll truly break it) If the temperture gauge works the fuel gauge should work as the fuse works it too ( gauges fuse) The wire going to the tank can get broken anywhere I start at the tank and go forward following the wire to see if it got in troble. The wire if you ground it the gauge should go to full ( fuller than full) and disconnected it should go to less than empty. If the gauge moves like this then the problem is inside the tank. If you fell like you can remove and install the tank to take the pump and sending unit out. removing gas tanks without the proper experience can get you hurt or killed in a fire so the helper or yourself needs to have some experience so as to be safe and carefulThis unit costs 295 at my store and thats how it's sold and the tank made on to it willhave fuel in it and so it's important too not cause a firee as thier very hard to pour out and it's hard to be cool if your scared unless your cool handed, in the face of death.
