You have a leak in one of the lines or airbags so the pump always runs, trying to get it up to the preset point but just can't. The system can be expensive to diagnose and repair so a lot of people replace the airbags with coil springs and disconnect the pump. The springs are available on ebay or other online stores and your local auto parts store.

Air suspension compressor sounds bad and wont pump up the rear on a 2003 mercury grand marquis

What is odd is the compressor stopping after so short a time. It may be your only problem.

When you have a leak in the system, the compressor keeps running because the sensors do not signal for it to shut off. On your vehicle it is either being told to shut off prematurely or the compressor is triggering a circuit breaker.

There are ride height sensors on the rear. If the vehicle was lifted without turning off the Air ride, the sensors may have been stretched.

You can check for air leaks in the suspension bags, and air lines using a spray bottle of soapy water. There is also a Master dump valve that should be ahead of the Drivers front tire/radiator well area. It is not a concern unless there is no pressure in the system.

Finally, just as the engine can express diagnostic Codes, so can the suspension. You need a better scanner to do this function. It is the quickest way to find the problem.

Please rate my info.

99 ford expedition level ride won't let air to rear air bags past solenoid mounted mid frame.

The better scanners can hook up to a connector port and diagnose the air lift system. This saves diagnostic time and the expense of replacing good parts. The trigger for your air ride system is probably one that you would not imagine. The trunk lid switches and the door jam switches tell the car that it needs to lower or pump up the system. The idea is that you want the car lower to load passengers and to lift things into and out of the trunk.

When these trigger signals reach the solenoids it is their job to add or release air. At least your pump is working. The diagnostic scanner will tell whether the solenoid is bad or a signal is missing to the solenoids. There is a master dump valve in front of the drivers wheel well to lower all ends at once.

I have a 2003 envoy where the rear end is riding realy low any ideas

I had the same problem with my '02 Envoy 4x4; had the soap test done and there were no leaks; also had the air compressor motor checked and mechanics said it was fine. The rear air bags were worn and cracked so I had them replaced. It lifted and rode at the correct ride height for a few weeks.
After having the rear air bags replaced I noticed that it was starting to not lift as before. Had another diagnostic check; the air compressor was not forcing air through the system in order to lift the vehicle. The air compressor motor was replaced. Compressor comes on and shuts off now.
Vehicle is at the normal ride height now.
Rear air bags and air compressor motor were dealership parts; unable to find after market; not recommended to replace with used parts.
I had the dealership to run the diagnostics and had another mechanic to replace the parts. Total repair for bags, motor + labor = $1500

Rear air ride is flat on 95 deville....what do i

the first thing is the fuses. i've seen many of these that the rear air shocks are bad but customer doesnt know and the pump runs until it burns out, after checking the fuses start the car and listen under the hood for the pump to turn on, if pump turns on then check shocks for leaks, also you would have to make sure the pump is producing air as it runs and the last thing is the level sensor located under the rear of car.

Air pump runns with no lift. pulled hose off to test has vacum ? front struts replaced 1 year ago rear bags hold air for a week or more

I would recommend just replacing the air ride with regular springs front and rear. Kits are available through parts stores and will as nice as the current setup, and much less costly too.

Air ride wont go down in the rear

first i would look under the rear of the car and you will see a ride sensor with a little arm
this tells the pump when to run either the arm broke came out of adjustment or the sensor is bad.
