It may just be time to change your oil pump.. start your engine and lift your hood.. do you hear a tapping type sound? the impeller inside your pump may be work and thus taking alotl longer then normal to build the proper pressure... if this is true.. get changed ASAP... if it fails it could cause your engine to blow..

Check to see if you have enough oil in the engine, With the dip stick-before running engine while the motor is cold check oil level and add as needed.

99 Grand Am Smoke Exhaust

I'm sorry to say your engine may be cooked.
Since you are adding both oil and coolant, and the color of the smoke is gray or white, you have the signs of the engine burning coolant.
The common cause is a leaking head gasket.

Dear Sirs, I own Pathfinder 2006. Recently Oil goes out from MAX mark to MIN mark within 8000 km (5000 miles). My dealer tells me that this is regular consumption which is confirmed by NISSAN officials....

  • Well MAX to MIN on the dipstick is a quart of oil in difference. You need to have the oil changed every 3,000 miles (5,000 miles for a synthetic). I don't think that a 2006 Nissan should burn a quart of oil every 5,000 miles. That seems a bit absurd. For much older vehicles this might be true but for a 2006, much more efficient vehicle, it should not burn a quart every 5.000 miles.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

1999 saturn sw has blue smoke coming from tailpipe. I would like to know if it has anything to do with head gasket

blue smoke is usually oil burning- is it light or heavy- if light- change oil and go up one grade- rings are worn- if heavy- time for a rebuild- rings need to be replaced. but for the money on rebuild- could find car newer and lower milage

Loss of oil over time

Have you tried running conventional oil and see how much it burns? If it is truely burning that much oil, you have a problem with the rings not seating, or PCV system sucking in too much oil. If it doesn't burn that much with conventional oil, I would stick with that. If it does, you have a bad motor issue.

My car smoke in the morning when I spark it. When I drive for a few miles it stops

possibly just condensation (steam) white-clear worse in colder enviroments
possible valve stem seals worn or gone hard
if its manual it may give small puff of (blue-grey) smoke out of exhaust in between gear changes at higher revs or on deceleration from hard rev while stationary it will also smell like burning oil

Cannot find the carburettor - where is it please?

if it's a 2001 model it is fuel injected which means it doesn't have a carby. the white grey smoke is burning oil which means you might want to keep an eye on you're oil level but the strong smell of fuel and lack of acceleration could be caused by a fuel leak somewhere

Engine oil

It is not unusual for an older truck to be burning a little oil. It is burning very little so you will not smell burnt oil or see blue smoke in the exhaust. But the oil burn does add up and you may notice a drop on the oil dipstick after a few weeks. On a 9 year old truck under normal working conditions will burn a little oil. If you are having to add 1 liter between oil changes, that is ok, just shows normal engine ware. 2 Liters is acceptable between oil changes if the truck does a lot of heavy pulling or work. 3 or more liters indecates a problem, but at that rate, you should be able to smell oil and see blue smoke.
