Question about 2005 Pontiac Sunfire

1 Answer

I have a 2005 Sunfire and I had GM install after the car was made, remote locks. It seems in cold weather I am not able to get into the drivers side or passenger door. I can get my key in the lock and turn the lock and I can pull up on the handle ouside. It seems that the tab lock (the finger lock inside) inside is frozen. After the car was been warming for about 30-45 mintues it works. I've had it in to the dealership while it was under warrenty and they said it was nothing. I've even had the the car rust proofed to see if that would remove any water from the lock rod. Any suggestions on why it's freezing and I cannot get into the car. I have not taken the car into the car wash all fall/ winter.

Condensation is the most common cause for the freezing up of mechanisms. Try using WD40 spray, if you can use one with a long straw that fits into the spray head as it allows you to get into small spaces and keeps things clean. WD40 is not only good releasing lubricant but it does have amazing water repellent properties. Keeping moisture at bay should alleviate the problems of freezing up.

I have a 2005 Nissan Almera with intermittent remote door locking issues. When the weather is very warm the car wont unlock but will lock.

It seems a bad actuator of the driver's side. May be alignment and re-adjustment of lock mechanism is required. Lubrication the locking mechanism linkage behind door panels is required. Spray WD-40 also the mechanism or spray with lithium grease to fix the problem.

My door on the driverside will not lock or unlockwith the remote all other doors work ok

does it work with the switch (both drivers and passengers side?)

It could be the actuator is burned out its self if it doesn't work at all, or you have a broken wire in the door boot.

Other option is its a fault of the BCM. The door lock communications is a data signal on the cars CAN network... when do remote starts on a 01 GM product I use an interface module that will control the door locks, otherwise on certain models you have to wire into the circuit board in the drivers window switch as its the main control for the door locks when using the switch

Where is the oil dipstick located on a 2005 pontiac sunfire

Usually on the front side (standing in front of your Sunbird) the dipstick tip on GM cars is usually yellow...some rare models have the dipstick located inside of the oil filler cap...(attached to inside of the cap:) Hope this helps.

How to remove or bypass the factory installed anti theft vehicle immobilizer.

in the 1996 sunfire GM uses an anti theft lock system. It can be triggered by all sorts of things. In order to relinquish this you must have a key to turn the ignition. These are not coded just plain cut keys. Once you attain this you put the key in and turn the ignition to the ACC position and wait ten minutes (theft lock light will turn off), turn off and take key out. You MUST do this 3 times and then the theft lock will be disarmed.

Error on cd

Could be a number of things. Some of the older GM CD players don't work too well in very cold weather. Also, some of the older CD players won't play burned CD's. If it's not cold weather related, and you're using a regular production store-bought CD, then it is most likely an internal radio problem. Cheapest solution is to buy a cheap aftermarket player.
