Hello sportster. Every make and model requires slightly different steps to change the thermostat but most of the steps are similar. That said, here is one set of steps. If this set is similar to what you have fine, if not get back with your model, model year and make.

NO HEAT

the thermostat is not the only thing to control heat. are the 2 hoses going to the heater core hot, you may have a bad blend door motor

Heat blows out air but does not get warm, any ideas?

If it is faulty, yes.
Does the temp gauge show the engine is warming up to normal temp ?
Is the radiator full of coolant ?
Are the heater hoses getting hot ?
It could also be a faulty blend door under the dash. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and the vents.

Hello, Can you help me? I have a 1993 Chevy Lumina that is overheating when I stop ex. long traffic lights, letting it run while I go to the mac machine etc... once I start driving again its fine. Can you...

Sounds like the cooling fan is not coming on .. could be a bad fan motor or relay .. If you can check it yourself you can try to power the fan up directly and see if that is the problem.

Over heating on gauge, both fans on rad.

I would say check your coolant level, and change your thermostat. And see if it is high fans or low fans when they come on. There is a fan control relay down on the drivers side frame right under the air box that goes bad too if your fans arent working quite right to check if all else.

Where is the thermostat cant find a repair manual for 97 Sportage ..need to know where the thermostat is located

just follow the top radiator hose toward the engine. that metal housing that the radiator hose hooks up to has the thermistat under it take off the two bolts and change out thermistat.refill with coolant then run for about a half hour to warm up enough to open thermistat, then top off with coolant at the radiator cap.leave cap loose during this operation so that no pressure will build up in radiator.if unsure squeeze upper rad. hose it should easilly compress if stiff pressure has built up so dont open the cap. let cool then top up coolant

My equinox is over heating when stoped at a light fans work fine, changed thermistat and still the same problem while using the air or not using the air I have to put the truck in park and keep the rpms at...

sounds like the fins in the water pump have disengauged from the shaft. raising the rpms will help. you really need to remove the water pump and see if it is in good shape, better off changing it if it is out. best of luck.
