Hi.

The TPS is tested reading volts (or Ohms) while someone else is smoothly pushing down the pedal. The job is not difficult.
Please let me know if you would like to get more details on testing procedure.

Regards.

Ginko.

check out tps sensor it has a big effect on shifting of vehicle. The data provided by TPS is invaluable for proper startup, idle and easy throttle response of the car. These operations are affected when a bad throttle position sensor feeds erroneous data to the car's computer because of which the:
  • Engine malfunction indicator light (MIL) is turned on
  • The driver of a car experiences difficulty while changing gears.
  • The fuel economy of the car drops drastically.
  • Causes difficulty in setting base-ignition-timing of the car a bad tps causes transmission shift issues, bucking, jerking, idle surging, engine cut off, hesitation on take off, surge while cruising down highway. it may not be that but try another one and find out. you can test the tps, just unplug connector to it. use a ohms meter and hook one lead to the top and other to the center prongs on tps itself. next move throttle very slow, if good tps will move needle on ohms tester it will sweep up without cutting out. but if you perform this test and the needle hesitates at any time you move throttle plate it is bad. 1 is ground, 2 is signal, the prongs on tps. good-luck

TPS? Car studders at low speeds when climbing hills

YOU HAVE A TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKUP ISSUE, HAVE SOMEONE LIKE THE DEALER,AUTO ZONE OR IF YOU ARE HANDY CHECK FOR CODES, NO CODES....THEN TAKE THE CAR OUT STEADY DRIVE AT AROUND 45 MPH, GENTLY HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS GO ON BUT NOT HARD ENOUGH TO STOP THE CAR...DO YOU FEEL THE CONVERTER SHIFT IN AND OUT EACHJ TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TOUCHED MAINTAINING A STEADY 45 MPH SPEED, IF IT THAT SAME SHUDDER YOU ARE FEELING THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, NOT AN EASY JOB AS THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REMOVED TO GET AT IT.SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS.......

check your TPS throtel position sensor. and the vehicle has a rev limiter so it wont over rev n park and nutral. but thats the first thing i would check do to many TPS's wear out and can get dead spots in them.

Engine revs take off on there own

Check out the throttle sensor. If its ok then you have a injection pump problem.IF you cannot turrn the engine of when the car starts reving then its running on its own oil.

torn intake boot on 2000+ Northstar requires removal of intake manifold along with injectors-about 4 hour job not just 2 clamps as suggested. New seals required could also run past $100 so $500 is not unreasonable

Xb stalling

It turned out that my wife drove through some standing water. I suspect some water got into our open air intake and was causing the stall. With enough revs, we blew it out.
