How to replace alternator

You don't say what type of vehicle it is but generally there is one bolt on the top sliding bracket that should be loosened first. Then loosen the bottom bolt (its a long one) You may have to use two spanners.(one to hold the head of the bolt while undoing the nut with the other) When the bottom bolt is slightly loosened pull up on the fan belt and the alternator will move up making it possible to remove the fan belt from the alternator pulley.Fitting the new alternator is the reverse process

Walking camshaft on 99 dodge neon

  • 1 Park your Neon on a level surface. Engage the parking brake. Open the hood and loosen the bolt on the negative battery cable terminal and pull the cable from the battery.

  • 2

Remove the Neon air filter by undoing the side clips and lifting the cover of the air filter off. Pull the air filter from the bracket. Undo the clip on the air filter hose and pull the hose off the inlet. Use a socket wrench to loosen and remove the four bolts holding the air filter bracket in place and pull the bracket from the engine

    3

  • Locate the camshaft position sensor. It will be at the rear of the cylinder head, centered on where the air filter housing was about midway down. It will look like a black plastic square (4"x4") and have four bolts holding it to the engine.

  • 4

Disconnect the wiring of the sensor from the wiring harness feeding into the car's electrical system. Press in the tabs at the sides of the connector and pull the two halves apart to do this.

  • 5

Remove the four bolts holding the sensor in place and remove the sensor from the engine.

  • 6

Clean the engine of any gasket material from the old sensor by scraping the surface gently with a paint scraper.

  • 7

Install the new sensor by placing it in the same position as the old one, replacing the bolts and then connecting the wiring harness. Replace the air filter bracket, hose, filter and cover. Reconnect your battery and you are done.

Replace starter

Do not rely on a jack to hold the car up. Use either ramps or jack-stands to hold it up. Disconnect the battery, undo the red wire on the starter, and loosen the two bolts holding it to the trans-axle.

How do you remove the battery in a 2000 LS1 saturn?

If you remove the tray , the battery will still be stuck on it because of the metal covering the line of plastic which is on the battery.

There must be a rectangular box in front of the battery that slides up off a metal plate that is secured by the same bolt holding down the front of the battery. Once you slide off the rectangular box, the bolt is more easily accessible.

Undo the bolt, there's one at the base on the back (side of the connectors). You'll need a long socket wrench connector

Himself has tried to replace the battery on the 03 frelander. managed to get the top bit holding the battery off but the bolt holding th batery into the clip won't undo - just spins around any ideas?!

If you are talking about the battery clamp bolts turning, then put a screwdriver in the split of the clamp and try to put turning pressure on the screwdriver and at the same time undo the nut of the clamp bolt. Or if you have a pair of mole grips, clamp the bolt head and undo the nut. Worst case , pry the clamp off the terminal and use a hacksaw and cut the bolt in half and remove it , fit a new bolt after. Hope that helps

I cant remove the battery fron its

On most there is a hold that bolts to the bottom of the battery tray with a 12mm bolt. This hold is hard to tell apart from the battery itself - same material, same color.look down on the bottom for a triangle shaped tab that has a bolt in the center, loosen this bolt and she should come out.

How you do remove the battery from a 1995 Buick Regal?

Undo the two 8 mm bolts that retain the cables to the battery.
Remove the negative terminal first using caution not to contact the positive terminal with your wrench.
At the base of the battery there is a bolt with a 13 mm head. You need to loosen that bolt to allow the battery hold down to slide over enough to release the battery.
Some models have a brace rod that needs to be removed or loosened to allow enough room to pull it out.
Reverse procedure to reinstall.
