I have had the same problem with my 626. I have replaced the distributor THREE times in 60,000 miles, and it has solved my problem ea. time.
This past time I replaced the rotor and cap only and have not been driving it long enough to tell if it will do the trick. I have read up on the problem, and the distributor seems to be a well known problem with this particular car. The part is about 200.00 bucks, plus the charge of install.
I tried to save money this time with just the rotor replacement, but am waiting anxiously to see if the problem still exists, for it does not happen every time I drive it.
    Hope this helps.

The problem is in the distributor module, you have to change the distributor, but be shore to change the ignition wires and spark plugs, because maybe for that reason your distributor fail

My1991 mazda 626 will not rev up over 3000 rpm

DO YOU MEAN WHEN YOU ARE ACCELERATING? Or do you mean sitting and reving the engine? If you are just reving the engine in park then the rev limiter is kicking in.

When i shut off car fan still stays running. i have 2000 mazda 626

Hello, this was common in some vehicles, the fan would cool down the motor and than cut out when the vehicle was switched off. It was actually a quite good idea because when you switch the motor off, the water pump stops working and there is no air flow to the radiator and engine, which makes the engine temperature higher, the fan just cools it down, just make sure it does cut out after a couple of minutes.

Under steady acceleration, engine light goes on

Being a 95 it dosent have OBD2 so it may not store a trouble code in the computer.
From the symptoms it sounds like either, Air flow sensor, O2 sensor
The O2 will not usually cause stalling under acceleration.

MAZDA 626

Hi, Does the car have a problem changing gears? Does the RMP fluctuate rapidly? By the way, I have the same car. I encounter almost the same problem as you. The mechanic put the car under diagnostic and that I needed to change three sensors. Of course I did not agree to that because logically it did not make sense that all three sensor failed. I took the car to another shop, they said the same thing. I am very stubborn so I did not have them change the sensors. I know the problem could be from lack of oxygen or fuel. I decide to clean the MAP sensor. As soon as I clean the sensor, the car start to run like it was a brand new car. The HP increased, the pick up increased. All because the dust built-up blocked the sensor from given an acurate reading. Let me know if your RMP is fluctuate rapidly. Thanks, Mike
