Once I find the code how do I use it to reset alarm? Doesn't car have to be running to impliment into the computer

  • sdavis250 Mar 27, 2011

My 2007 altima needs to have alarm reset on it however the car wont start so how do you reset alarm once you have the code from the manual

  • sdavis250 Mar 27, 2011

I need to know to reset the alarm once the new battery has been put into the key fob

  • sdavis250 Mar 28, 2011

ok, i have done both techniques on what you told me do which is, lock doors, turn to the right lock twice, then turn to the right to unlock twice-alarm is disarmed but car isnt recognizing the key fob.

also the ignition switch doesn't turn it only pushes, so other technique wont work to even try.

i even tried taking key fob, inserting it in and out atleast 7 times into cylynder, that isn't doing anything either.

please help me to get fob to be recognized by the car so that i can start my car and drive

  • sdavis250 Mar 28, 2011

i tried the techniques that i was told to try and they didn't work, car wont start, key fob isnt recognized by car

  • sdavis250 Mar 28, 2011

The car is now unlocked, the alarm isn't a factor anymore, it stopped. the car is disarmed. My problem now that the car is not recognizing the key fob, it's my spare and it works just fine, or atleast it did. When I push any of the buttons the car isn't recognizing it. I think what I need to be able to do is reset the fob somehow so that the car starts to recognize it again, therefore letting the car start

  • sdavis250 Mar 28, 2011

    It is a factory alarm

  • sdavis250 Mar 28, 2011

    need another opinion

  • sdavis250 Mar 28, 2011

The car alarm went off, I disarmed it with no problems, now it's not armed. However, the car doesn't start now and key fob isn't recognized by car. I've tried inserting the key atleast 6 times in and out of the key fob slot in car within 10 seconds, while doors were locked, didn't work. Also tried turning the key manually to the lock position twice and the unlock position twice while doors were closed to reset alarm. Overall my car is not recognizing the fob and the car will not start (indicator light states "no key")

  • sdavis250 Mar 28, 2011

Yes I just put new one in, it isn't the battery

  • sdavis250 Mar 28, 2011

So here's the deal, the valet lost my main key fob, went upstairs to get the spare key fob, came back down, pushed the button to unlock the door, didn't respond, had to manually open door, alarm went off, finally stopped sounding, put fob into cylinder slot in the car, no lights, no indicator, nothing. went and got brand new battery, tried to use, didn't work. Wrote all of you for help, not sure what to do now!!

  • sdavis250 Mar 28, 2011

the key fob isn't working, battery is new, the fob and car are not connecting, car indicator says there's no key present. car won't start

One option is to reset the alarm master control- CPU- by resetting with the reset switch which must be on the underside of the dash and noted to your manual.
As your press the reset insert the key to the ignition and turn on. It should work.
If not another option is to remove the battery connection to drain off the memory error which might reset the alarm and reset the security arming of the ignition system.
Hope this works.

You can arm and disarm the alarm from the drivers door lock Cylinder by turning and holding the unlock (disarm) for two seconds alarm and headlights will stop flashing. If the drivers side lock does not work you can do this from the trunk lock Cylinder too.

Turning and holding the lock to lock also (arms) the security light and alarm.

The alarm stops only by unlocking the driver's door or the trunk lid with the key, or by pressing the Unlock button on the intelligent key.

It sounds like your battery may have died, so you may have to charge the battery before attempting to disarm the security system.

You mentioned your Alarm is no longer Factory. I will need to know the Make and Model of the Alarm in order to further assist you.

Welcome to Fixya

Try to change the battery of the key first before resetting the alarm. Here's the procedure:

1 Turn the key over to expose its back. Push the key lever down to release the mechanical key from the casing.

2 Cover the tip of a flat-head screwdriver with a thin piece of cloth. Insert the tip into the small slot on top of the key casing.

3 Pry the casing apart with the screwdriver. Separate the two halves of the key casing.

4 Remove the battery with your fingers. Install the new battery with the positive (+) side facing down.

5 Snap together the two key casing halves. Reinsert the mechanical key into its slot.

Thank you for using Fixya!

If you still have the factory default alarm installed in you car then plea follow this procedure:

Make sure the drivers front(left front) door is closed and you have your car keys

Insert your door key into the drivers door and turn it to the locked position two times.

Then turn the key to the unlock position twice

The alarm should be disarmed, now.

    SECOND TECHNIQUE:

If not then take the ignition key and turn the ignition switch all the way ON then OFF then ON a second time and OFF again.

These are the procedures for nearly all factory alarm systems.

If neither of these works you probably have an after market(add-on) alarm system.

The reason the car won't start is because of the alarm. It needs to be reset. Check your manual for a code. If you can't find it there, you will need to call the dealership to get the code. Thank you for choosing FixYa.

I changed my car battery, now my 2008 Nissan Altima key fob won't work

There is a special procedure involved in keying your fob to your car once the battery has been changed. You must lock and open the door with your key. Turn the ignition to "on"(not start) then push the fob's open and close button, then shut off ignition. This procedure is done everything the key battery is changed. Hope this can help you!

Won't start, could it be fob or engine?

Try not using the fob at all open the door with the key. And start the jeep if it works without issue then its the fob. If its still not working correctly remove the battery from the fob and try again(since if it was damaged could be sending the signal for the panic button) the next step is the key try your spare security key can become worn and cause issues with the antitheft system. After that it only leaves computer problems and those can get spendy

I have a 2009 Altima with the push-button ignition and the proximity sensor key fob. Great concept, except the buttons on the fob are constantly being set off unintentionally. Stuff in my pocket, leaning...

My Nissan 2009 Altima is doing the same thing and most of the time the key stays in a drawer. The dealership says they never heard of it. I suggested they just google the issue; it seems to be a problem for a number of years. They say they are going to test my keys for signals next week; will let you know. But doors unlocking, windows are opening and trunk is opening all randomly.
