the reason I was asking about the local of it and stuff the begin with is there is no oil getting to my engine....what are the reasons it would do that? What would you look for to start with and where all would you go from there? What should I be looking for to figure out why no oil is reaching the engine?

  • lalebrun83 Mar 29, 2011

how easily accessable are the bolts? Can the pan be removed without with the engine in place in the car? Or do I have to jack up and out? lol

Drain oil, next remove all pan bolts, Make sure you remove all the old gasket and use high temp syiclone when replacing gasket. Don't think you have to jack up motor you should have room to remove. Good luck to ya.

How to change oil pump on 2000 crown Vic

Drain and recycle the oil. Remove all the bolts from the oil pan. Remove the oil pan. Oil pump is held in with 2 bolta. Remove old pump. When inserting new pump be sure it is sets properly and new gasket is used. Tighten pump . Using new gasket or sealant (parts store can tell you which is recommended) reinstall oil pan. Refill engine oil. ( this is a good time to go ahead and change the oil filter as well). Start car. If oil pressure gauge does not come up to pressure quickly shut engine off. Oil pressure should come up to normal level pretty quickly.

Ok I have a 1995 ford aspire im trying to figure out how to replace the oil pump

Disconnect the motor mounts and jack the engine to remove the oil pan. Remove the oil pan, replace the oil pump you'll find at the end of a pick up tube, replace the pump and put the pick up tube back on the new pump making sure it's in the same low position it was when removed, replace the oil pan gasket and put the oil pan back on, lower the engine and put the motor mount bolts back in. Put in the proper amount of oil and go.

How do you change the oil pump in a 1995 chevy lumina 3100

You must remove the oil pan. I do not think you can do this with the engine in the car. If you can remvove the pan from the bottom without engine removal, it would be easy. Most every engine has to be removed to fully remove the oilpan. So my solution is- remove engine, remove oilpan, remove pump, replace pump, pan, and engine.

Fig. Fig. 2: Exploded view of the oil pump used on the 4.0L engine-2.8L and 2.9L engines are similar
  1. Follow the service procedures under Oil Pan Removal and remove the oil pan assembly.
  2. Remove the oil pump retainer bolts and remove the oil pump.

To install:
  1. Prime the oil pump with clean engine oil by filling either the inlet or outlet port with clean engine oil.
  2. Rotate the pump shaft to distribute the oil within the pump body. Install the pump and tighten the mounting bolts to 14-21 ft. lbs. on 2.0L and 2.3L engines; 6-10 ft. lbs. on 2.8L and 2.9L engines or 13-15 ft. lbs. on 4.0L engines.

Do not force the oil pump if it does not seat readily. The oil pump driveshaft may be misaligned with the distributor shaft assembly. To align, rotate the intermediate driveshaft into a new position.
  1. Install the oil pan as previously described. The oil pumps are not serviceable. If defective, they must be replaced.

Remember rated this.

Removal of oil pan for chevy lumina 1995

You must raise then engine high enough to remove the oil pan. Loosen motor mount bolts & remove them, jack engine up enough to remove pan or use a chain block. Use wood blocks to support engine at motor mounts. Good luck!

Locate the oil pump how to change it

The location of the oil pump is located inside the engine oil pan. The oil pan being on the very bottom of the engine. This would be a fairly difficult job for a beginner. Highly suggest obtaining a manual with specific directions. Disconnect battery, Make sure to remove intake plenium for clearance when jacking engine after disconnecting engine mounts, and losen only on the rear transmission mount. It will also be necessary to disconnect radiator connections hoses and transmission lines if automatic, on the safe side many people just remove the radiator all together to avoid damageing it with the engines bottom pulley when lifting/jacking engine. The engine will have to be lifted enough to facilitate the removal of the oil pan. Caution, sometimes the oil pump/ pick up screen tube assy. will have to be disconnected before the pan will clear these can just be dropped into the pan. Also, it is not uncommon to have to rotate the crank by the front pulley in order to get the cranks throws to clear the pan as well. Remember going back together you may have to slide the oil pan in place first then put the new oil pump in. This will be tight work and you may do a lot of swearing! Caution again never work in these close areas without supporting the engine on some wooden blocks! I have used short pieces of 4x4's in the past, make sure the engine is securely supported. Remember when going back together to retighten everything you loosend make a list. Before doing all this work please do an oil pressure check and not just rely on the gauge as an indicator to change the oil pump. Also, if an engine has not been serviced regularly the engine oil pan could have a build up of sluge blocking the oil pump's pickup screen therefore decreasing the oil pressure. God Bless

Replace oil pump

Oil Pump is in the oil pan.. You would have to take the pan out. To get the pan out you either have to raise the motor up or remove crossmembers.
