It could be that your vehicle is over heating. I would shut the motor off immediately and call a tow truck.

SOURCE: the red light on the

Possible that there is circuit error or the posistor reading is giving erros to the circuit to trigger the LED. If the guage is correct then there is no cause for alarm but to concur and find the solution. so check using a thermometer and confirm which is right. if so the circuit must be checked.

What does it mean when the red temperature light starts blinking on my toyota corolla verso. The car is not overheating

If the coolant temp light is on then there is an issue. You don't say on what basis you believe the engine is not overheating but in any event take the car to a mechanic and get an independent temp gauge hooked up to the system to check coolant temperatures.

If the engine is in fact overheating, because the coolant temp is too hot, you will cause expensive engine damage if the cause is not identified and fixed.

2003 vw 18.t temp lights goes on but temp gauges read normal

If your coolant overflow is bubbling then regardless of what your gauge says you are having overheating issues. If your coolant is missing with no aparent leaks then you need to check your oil for a milky consistency and apearance which would most likely point to a blown head gasket. This would also explain overheating. Hope this helps

1998 BMW 528 recently replaced radiator, water pump & pulley temp gauge sat middle all good THEN 2 months after all this temp gauge goes past middle then dropped back to middle . Next day temp gauge...

It could be the thermostat but you need to check the fluid level and for any leaks (these could even be pin hole) first. If you have one of those infra-red temperature gauges you can check the temperature of the cooling system in the engine bay to double check. Generally the engine temperature should not go much about 90 deg C - this is when the electric cooling fans kick in - are these turning on?

My landcruiser 79 series ute over heated temp gauge went into red replaced pump belts filled up with new coolant but now the gauge just stays in red permanently even when u first start car from cold.

You should replace the temp guage sender unit. First disconnect wire from sender and with a test light connect one end to wire and one to earth turn ignition on and gauge should start at base and slowly work its way up. Faulty sender. If gauge still on full when disconnected from sender then gauge is either stuck and need replacing

Temp Sensor in my VW 2002 Jetta was replaced due to a Check Engine light and a code noting this needed to be done. Once complete my car began heating up. Coolant light came on and my temp gauge pegged in...

If your radiator fans are not running at all than I would check over the wires your disconnected when rpolacing the temp sensor. Make sure they are fully connected. That would be the first thing I would check.

Good Luck

My 2000 Toyota Echo has the red engine temp light flashing. I checked the coolant container about an hour after I parked in the shade of my house. (95 degrees here today and I was driving on the highway...

a flashing check engine light (CEL) is a warning to stop driving-one that is on steady (not blinking) means something is wrong, but blinking is BAD-make sure it is completely cooled down, and fill the overflow/surge tank, start it up (use 50/50 antifreeze) and let it idle until the engine temp is all the way up-this can take 10-15 minutes, make sure the heater is on high temp setting and the fan is on-look at the temp gauge if it has one to see if it looks normal. If all looks good, fill the tank to the FULL mark (or a hair above it) and put the tank cap on tight. Drive the car for about 10 minutes, and pay attention to the temp gauge-if it looks good, and the engine is alright, the CEL probably with either not light or will go off by itself.

It is possible you did damage driving it with a flashing CEL, however-if so look for leaks, smoke out of the exhaust, poor running/performance, or more ominous signs of trouble like air bubbles in the overflow tank, oil in the antifreeze of antifreeze in the oil-aluminum engines do NOT tolerate overheating, if you ever see a high temp gauge and/or a flashing CEL-STOP and get it checked out, you will save yourself a lot of money being prudent.

2003 ford f-350 trans temp gauge shows hot, tow / haul light blinks steadily....what could be the problem

From what i know of these trucks, its a "common problem". There is a tsb on this and the gauges arent really accurate. The tow light is blinking due to heating(not really), its trying to tell you to stop towing. Ive read that some guys gauge is reading 250 which if it really were, the truck would be running. Water boils at 220(im sure u know that). Suggestions ive come across is adding aftermarket gauges that give "accurate" readings unlike factory ones that are controlled by computer. Aftermarket will give you independent readouts.Heres a temp check you can try on your truck, im not sure if it will work for your model.

This is for the regular dash, like in XLT.
key off
push trip button in and hold
turn key on
"test" will appear in message display. Release button.
Gauges will sweep
then just push the button each time to scroll thru various modes.
Mostly junk info, but eventually you will come to temp, it is in Celcius so you have to convert to Farenheight(temp x 1.8 + 32)
Normal temp for mine at idle is 88, so 88x1.8=158.4,+ 32=190.4F
You can also view digital tach. All these modes are real time, and will remain on until you cycle the key on/off.

Hi,

The overheating and lack of cabin heat both point to a failed engine thermostat which would be stuck closed. At the warm up stage, the coolant stays in the engine block to bring the engine to efficient operating temperature, then it opens and circulates the coolant through the radiator and heat core. If the thermostat is stuck closed, the engine will overheat, and coolant will never reach the heater core, and you will not get cabin heat.

Blinking oil light at idle which goes away during driving could be a low oil level, but may also be a drop in oil pressue. You could have a clogged oil fliter (at best) pickup tube, or a failing oil pump.

What is the red thermometer symbol?

On my daughter 2000 beetle with 2.0 engine, the blue thermometer light comes on solid when you first crank it up because the coolant/engine is below operating temp. I have seen the red thermometer blink when the coolant is low.
