When you have screwed the led lights you have shorted the wires to the rear indicators (the wires are situated inside the car, under the carpet, next to the door seal) . When that happened the metallic parts from the electrical contacts from the switch have been overheated by the big current passing thru them and they got deformed so now the contact is done badly.
Replace the lever switch and fix the wires - take out the carpet, find the damage and repair it. Then check the rest of the wiring, the short might have overheated and damaged other wires along the way.

Most likely you will need to replace the turn signal switch which requires taking part of the steering column apart. Once you have the column apart you may find a short or a bad ground that can be repaired without having to replace the entire switch. Purchase a Haynes or Chilton's manual for your vehicle from an auto parts store as they will have step by step instructions. If you're not mechanically inclined this may be a job for a dealership or repair shop to handle.

The turn signal switch is bad and needs replaced. over years of use, dirt and residue build up inside the switch and also, constant use wear out the electrical contacts which make the switch work. suggest that you have the turn signal switch on the steering column replaced to resolve your problem. if it was a turn signal light blown, the right side would'nt work at all, even if you pushed in on the turn signal switch. what you described is a bad turn signal switch on the steering column. suggest you call and get estimates from local garages to replace it. this is not a dealer only repair.,thank you for choosing fixya.com and we look forward to assisting you in the future!

Sounds like your turn signile lever is not making good contact, try spraying inside with some wd-40 good luck.

I have a 97 blazer. My turn signals don't work...not even on the dash...no hazard lights...and brake lights are on without pressing the pedal...what can I do

this could be the signal switch that has shorted out or damaged. unplug the switch, this is down at the base of the steering colume, check for poor connections. with the switch connected, using a test light turning on the signals check for power at the connector. yellow is left signal, green is right signal. if you don`t have power at this spot the switch is bad.

Check the front and rear turn signals on the left. If both are just as bright as the right turn signals, then the dim bulb is isolated just to the dash. Possibly someone replaced the bulb at one time with the wrong rated bulb. A steady dim bulb doesn't sound like a loose ground. It would probably be going in and out or flickering, and just that one side would not have a separate ground. High resistance in a wire (like broken strands)or a connection could cut the current and cause a dim bulb. If the whole left side is dim, both the dash and the signaling bulbs, start looking for high resistance in that side of the circuit. To thoroughly check it out, probably need a volt meter

I can help you out with the left turn signal not blinking. Maybe it's a flasher or the light bulbs aren't getting current through the wiring.

I can't help you out with the interior gauge lights not turning on when you turn the headlamps on. It may have to do with the headlamp switch, though.

I've never seen the lights on the radio not dim when the headlamp switch is turned on. hm.

Good luck on this repair.

My 97 chevy blazer, the brake lights dont work but the third brake light does and the turn signals or hazard lights dont work??

More likely it is the hazard/turnsignal/highbeam/cruise control switch module. It costs about $275 for the module. However there is a repair kit for the likely culprit...the hazard button. Try jiggling it around a little, see if that helps. Spray a little WD-40 into it so it can jostle back into it's correct position. You could try a junkyard unit or Ebay. It's not too hard to change. The hard part is doing it without removing the steering wheel. It can be done. I've done it. But hopefully you can locate the repair kit which costs about 15 dollars. Good luck.

Electrical blinker problem

If the battery drain gauge is registering the "blinks" there is definitely a short between the two wires. As one signal is told to blink they both get power and split the power causing the dim lights. This extra load is enough to momentarily cause heating in the wires and raise the circuit resistance. I would look at the wires coming from the bulb and find where they meet. They may have fused together above a sharp edge or even the exhaust.

Driver side signals only work when headlights are OFF

What may have happened is either the headlights wiring or the parking lights wiring somewhere along the wiring fused to the left turn signals wiring. Depending on if the turn signals go on when you put the parking lights on or the headlights on.

If the signals come on when you turn on the headlights than you only need to locate the light green wire that comes off the left turn signal harness.

Next follow that wire the entire way back to the firewall looking for another wire fused to that wire as you go.

If there are no signs of this you need to continue looking on the other side of the firewall all the way back to the turn signal and hazard flasher unit which is a black box that connects to a black harness located next to a grey harness behind the knee bolster.

But if the signals come on when you turn on the parking lights than you will also need to check the wiring from the rear left signal and follow that light green wire all the way back to the turn signal and hazard flasher unit.

This should fix your problem, but if not than your problem may lay within the the wiring between the turn signal/hazard switches and the turn signal and hazard flasher unit.

Also you may have a burnt circuit in the junction block. This block is where the light green from the rear left signal and front left signal meet. Don't have a description but if you cannot find it let me know and I will go out to the yard and look myself and let you know.

DASH LIGHTS DIM WHEN BRAKE OR LEFT BLINKER APPLIED

Pull the bulb out of both left side turn signals and check the filaments. As these are double filament bulbs, sometimes the filaments break and lay across the other creating a feedback issue.
