Question about 1997 GMC Sierra

1 Answer

I left the house & in reverse it felt like the engine was skipping.Put in OD & went about 5 miles made a turn went about .5 a mile stopped made another turn everything was fine.Made a right turn & accellerated & sounded & felt like trans was slipping.Pulled in @ burger joint, went in & got a bite, came out & the truck wouldn't move in reverse.Bounced it off the curb to get back far enough to go foward.Went down the road & it didn't want to shift till I got upt about 4000 RPM & let off accelerator.Never did shift to 3rd or OD.But I wasn't running but about 45 or 50.Got home ck.d fluid was a little low added 1qt. no change still no reverse.

Check the trans fluid level first with the engine running. If its low , top it up. Then go back and have them take care of the valve issue.

No Reverse and the fluid is dirty and smells funny.

Sounds like you blew out your reverse belt/gear in the transmission. Probably going to need a transmission rebuild/replacement.
