Question about 1997 Oldsmobile 88

1 Answer

Gas leak Hi Guys, I just bought myself a beautiful 1997 olds royale. It rides like a dream, I feel safe, my girls and I love it and they've even named her "Daisy", she also kicks ****....the only issue is that the gas line at the top of the tank is swollen and needs to be replaced. Now the question I have is this....do I need to drop the tank....or can I gain access to the tank by removing the back seat?

Thanks for your help! I love working on my own car, but being a single mom, I was hoping I could go through the back seat.....big time saver! Guess it's off to our local "Mr. Bay" to drop the tank!! Thanks again!

The suspension system being that old probably needs some major work. Beside being a short wheel base does not help. The longer the wheel base the smoother the ride. I bought a new car a short time ago(cross-over) , did not like the ride. Bought a mini-van a year later. Much smoother ride and better gas millage.

Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry5vyIMc6T0 - should be the same as your truck. You can buy them online from just about any parts supplier (it's called the mode actuator).

On the front of your truck where your radiator is there is a transmission cooler, there are lines running from your transmission to that cooler they could be leaking, the transmission cooler is behind the grill on the front of your truck infront of your radiator, and as far as a stop leak, myself it is alot cheaper than buying a transmission, I would suggest that you use CD2 transmission stop leak, just a suggestion.

My 316 bmw se has water everywhere!!!

Sounds like a head gasket or a crack in the head/block. Try some block seal from the local parts store, sometimes it works well.

Falcon does not change out of first gear until the oil gets hot.

if the oil was black this indicates major issues in the transmission, transmission fluid should be a bright beautiful red color you need to get your transmission repaired soon as possible.
unless they drained the engine oil>>>>>>?
