Question about 2002 Chevrolet S-10

1 Answer

2002 s10 will not start, fuel pressure is fine. It acts as if it is starving for fuel. Could this be an injector problem or a sensor issue?

Get a can of spray starting fluid and see if the engine starts up and dies right out, if so you have lost the injectors, either the PCM is fault (unlikely) or the power circuit to the injectors from the injector fuse is defective due to a defective wiring issue.

My car is acting like it is either starving for gas or getting too much changed fuel filter give me some other items to check please here is conendrum to this problem... after about the first mile of this...

some things to check, have the fuel pressure checked with a gauge and the fuel volume as well.you can have good fuel pressure but poor volume.either of these can cause a problem.the map sensor could have a problem with it,if the egr vavle is opening to soon at times or is dirty can create problems, the tps sensor is another problem with these and should be checked.to check the catalytic you will need to have an exhaust back pressure test done on the exhuast.some of these have problems with the convertor mesh braking up and causing an intermitent plugging of the system.

not starving fuel but "flooding out" and putting unburnt fuel in the exhaust system which ignites and damages mufflers and cat converters
check for excessive fuel pressure or bad /leaking injectors

No/Low Fuel Pressure after replacing in-tank fuel pump & filter

Need to have the fuel pressure checked at fuel rail to know for sure if there is a fuel pressure problem for sure. There may be a in line filter as well, you can also do a check of the pressure regulator by pulling the vacuum line off of it then try starting the car with it off and see if it runs, if it does the regulator is bad, but IF it doesnt run doesnt necessarly mean it is good, a lot of fuel filters have a bypass wich allows the gas to bypass the filter when it is full bad thing is the debris can then plug the injectors causing problems, or there could be a loss of signal to tell the injectors to give fuel to the cylinders from an electrical or a sensor failure. So it is best to test the pressure to know for sure if it is in the fuel line or the injectors if it is truly being starved of gas. hope this helps

I'd use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, key on engine off, 60--66 psi with spider fuel system.
Engine cranking did you visually check for spark at the spark plugs? Engine cranking is there a fuel injector pulse?https://s8.postimg.org/50arofh11/fuel_pump.jpg
Click on the link for fuel pump relay, you can check the fuse. At the fuel pump, gray wire is voltage, black is ground.

The injectors are stopped up. Start simple. Use a fuel additive in the tank that is designed to break up this buildup. If the problem still persists then you may need to pull the injectors to clean the screens manually. Hope this helps. Good luck.

could be a clogged fuel filter. How long since you changed it?
It is located bolted to the frame on the drivers side. They only cost $7.00 so I would try this.
