You might call a salvage yard. and see if you can not get a bolt from there. they shoudl ony charge 2-3 dollars for the part if that.

Is there a certain type of gasket or something else when there is a oil leak starting in a 1998 pontiac firefly

clean around the oil pan gasket area well as some oil leaks are actually rocker cover gasket and filter leaks that run down the block and appear as pan leaks.. Check front crankshaft seal as the oil from there also appears as a pan leak

Oil leaked out from the oil cap and the engine cover has a missing screw

Oil may have been over filled , if not a faulty cap , the missing screw wouldnt cause a leak from the cap , check no oil leakage around missing screw (may need to clean area first) this could cause rocker cover gasket not being compressed properly

My cadillac catera has oil licking from the bottom of the oil pan

HI. This will normally be the result of a failed oil pan gasket. With that said, I will list other areas of concern below. Have theses areas checked for faults asap.

1. Loose or improperly secured oil outlet screw.
2. Failed oil plug screw ring gasket.
3. Failed head gasket
4. Damaged or overly secured oil filter device.
5. Damaged or deteriorating oil pan gasket.
6. Damaged or breached oil pan.

I have oil around the area where my drain plug is but it istn coming from the drain plug and there isnt alot just a bit whats up with my truck?! I hope yall can help.

Could be the gasket for the whole oil pan that's leaking. That would let oil run down the oil pan, to where the drain plug is.

I am looking to buy a 96 ford f250 powerstroke 7.3L. It needs a new oil pan gasket and or a rear main seal. I just want to make sure im not getting screwed on this deal. how much would it cost to repair...

The pan gasket is cheap. Remove the pan install new gasket. A shop would charge around $100. Now the main seal, it will run you $800+ to fix. Difficult and time consuming.

How hard is it to change the oil pan gasket on 1983 Olds Cutlass Supreme?

It is actually pretty easy. After you drain oil and loosen all pan bolts, there is just enough room to lower down and still have some room above crossmember to work around. Just make sure to scrape off all the old gasket and wipe area clean before adding new gasket. I also recommend placing thin layer of RTV Silicone evenly across both surfaces. (pan and engine block) Then use your new gasket in between like usual. Check repair manual for oil pan torque specs. I believe most are around 15 lbs.
