Have you checked your oil level? This light indicates either an oil level problem or an oil pressure problem.

Assuming your oil level is full, it sounds like you've got a faulty oil pressure switch which determines when to trigger the oil light.

It could also be burnt oil in the base pan thats eventually being sucked up in the strainer and clogging it. 90ish Hondas, with infrequent servicing are prone to gunk buildup in the oil pan, because the shield is so effective it doesnt allow a lot of gunk to drop into the bottom of the pan, instead it accumulates on the lip and gradually mixes up with new oil during every change

Can a new oil filter cause the Oil Level Warning Light to come on and stay on?

yes on some models when you change the oil then the filter you need to add oil to the new filter then put it on see the system has to build up a prime and some motors are weak and cannot pick the new oil up Good Luck let me know Mike L.

Red warning light staying on

That can be a small problem like a loose wire or a sensor that is out.. sometimes if a warning bulb is out on dash it will send a signal to the engine light to illuminate.. if its blinking that isa major problem.. sometimes even getting oil changed or leaving a gas cap open or broken can cause the llightto go off. Is there any symptoms associated with the blinking light?

I have a 2007 Fiat Doblo 1.3 diesel. When I start the engine, hot or cold, the oil warning light stays on but goes out after about a minute. I suspect a lazy switch but lately the warning light has come on...

there is 2 settings on the oil light, one is, is there oil. other setting is is the oil passing the sensor, if the sensor is playing up it could be the sensor or the oil is not circulating fast enough. this could be the pump or the oil, can sometimes do this after an oil change and deposits are blocking the oil flow.

At red light engine seems like it wants to cut off.

try changing your pcv valve. if its dirty it may be causing the shuttering. as for the check engine light going on and off, you may have a bad gas cap. if the cap is faulty it will cause the engine light to come on at times because of a poor air to fuel ratio.

1992 VW Polo 1.3L Coupe: warning light mystery

Bought a very reputable diy service manual for the vehicle, and that plus a bit of thought and nous gave me the cure: no intrinsic problem other than loose relay connections. Went round with the wiring diagrams as guide checking all electrical connections in tight and relays fuses etc all good. Switched on and no problem any more.

By the way, vehicle is 1992 VW Polo - not Fox (which in UK is a variant of the Polo)
