You most likely have a bad hub bearing (97.5% sure). Here's how to test it..

  • Drive the car to about 40-50 m.p.h.
  • Sway side to side, see if the noise responds in intensity increasing, or decreasing.
  • If it did note which way you sway the vehicle to get it to increase and decrease.
  • If it increases in noise when going left it is the RIGHT hub bearing
  • If it increases when going right it is the LEFT hub bearing
  • The reason this is happening is due to you loading the suspension of the vehicle with more of the vehicle's weight, therefore making the condition worse when loaded, and less when un-loaded.
  • Thank you, and please give me a good rating if this was helpful.

2002 trailblazer making loud humming noise when driving

When you turn right - you're taking weight off the right wheel.
If the noise dissipates - the passenger side wheel bearing is most likely to blame.

Thanks

My front passenger side is making a humming noise and when i go to brake it shakes makes a clinking noise

Sounds like the wheel bearings are worn out - replace both sides since the other side will probably go soon also.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am and it makes a loud noise

Bad front wheel bearing on the drivers side. When you turn left it shifts more of the vehicles weight to the passenger side and takes the pressure off of the drivers side. Not uncommon but will need attention soon. Hope this helps
