Removing taillight assembly for a 2001sebring

Open the trunk, peel back the trunk liner to expose wiring connector and taillight housing plastic retainers, disconnect wiring connector and loosen plastic retainers and remove the taillight assembly. See diagram in section 7 of your manual to figure out which bulbs to replace if needed. !!!Don't touch the bulb socket unless you're sure the car's electrical systems are switched off.

I have a 1998 GMC truck with the left back blinker not working. When I turn on the emergency flashers the left back does not work either. The front left blinker still works but is fast when do the turn...

I think this may be the same problem these trucks have had for years take the taillight apart and check the circuts that go from the wireing to the bulbs dont know if this will help you also you can check the plug at the taillight to see if there is power there with the blinker on

My 1984 ford econoline has Chevy taillights and i need a wiring chart to get taillights lights back on.

Right off the bat, I don't think you'll ever find a wiring diagram for taillights on two completely different makes of vehicles.

Best suggestion is to get a 12 volt test light and one by one check the wires going to the rear of you vehicle. Start by turning the parking lights on and then probing all the wires (one at a time) to see where voltage is present. Make a list of the colors of the wires associated with a particular action. Do the same for brake light, back up lights, and turn signals (both left and right).

Once you have established this base of info, start touching a wire (say, the left turn signal) to wires in your taillight assembly until you get the desired reaction in the Chevy taillight. Again, make a note of what combination of wires produces what result. Be patient and you can work your way thru this and get it to all function the way you want.

Need to know how to replace rear taillight bulb.

You'll need a phillips head screwdriver and possibly a needle-nose pliers.

Open your tailgate and look near the taillight assembly. With the tailgate open, you'll see 2 phillips head screws holding the taillight assembly in place. Remove the screws and pull out and toward the side of the car. You'll see the wiring harness that plugs into the taillight body and three plastic disks that have a raised plastic tab. Twist the tab counter-clockwise for about 1/4 turn and the disk/socket will come out with the bulb attached. The socket may be difficult to twist by hand, so you may need a needle-nose pliers to grip the tab lengthwise. I suggest replacing all of the bulbs in the assembly at once, even if they're not all bad so that you won't have to do it again when another bulb inevitably burns out.

After you have the bulb(s) replaced, reassemble the taillight and reattach in the reverse order of disassembly.

The three wires to the tow lights have been cut, and i cant find where in the harness they are cut can i bypass it all and just rerun new wires?

Yes. But do you have seperate yellow turn signal lights in the rear or do the turn signals work independant of the brake lights? If yes then you need to wire in a taillight converter. It takes your seperate left & right turn signals combines them with your brake lights on 2 wires instead of 3 leaving you with your normal 4 wires in total instead of 5. 1 Left turn & brake light. 1 Right turn & brake. 1 Taillight. 1 Ground. = 4 wires in total. If you dont have seperate rear turn signals just find left turn wire in taillight assembly, Right turn wire & Taillight & a good ground & you are done. On trailer plug yellow is left, green is right ,brown is tailight & white is ground.

Anyone know anything about the wiring for a Ford Falcon XR6? Rear lights do not work including number plate light, fuses and relays all appear good, but strangely enough when I pull the rear lights fuse...

seems that taillights and dash lights are on the same circuit, they did that years ago so that if your dash lights went out you knew that you had no taillights, chech the grounds for the taillights, and check for voltage at the socket, from there its a search for broken wires

How to change the flasher /tail light on a 2000 buick lesabre

go to the trunk, remove the plastic nut holding the trunk interior skin in place (the nuts are the plastic that the trunk net hangs on), the skin will pull away with a snap after that. Remove three bolts from the back of the taillight, the taillight assembley will slid out from the exterior of the car. Remove the wire assembly from the taillight, replace the bulb and put it back into the taillight. SLide the taillight assembly back in place, but the three bolts back on, snap the trunk skin into place, screw the plastic trunk net bolt back in.

Geo Prizm brake lights

I had the same problem, what I did to fix it was as follows:
  • Removed the plastic light holders from the tail lamp.
  • On each of the three bulbs there is a ground wire that is attached to the plastic light holder via a screw. Remove these connections and clean, I used some very light sand paper.
  • Reassemble, Worked like a Charm for me, and I save a $90 charge from Firestone by doing it myself...
