Question about 1992 Ford Probe

3 Answers

92 probe, problems keeping running.

I have a 92 Probe and about a month ago on way home from work it died, tried to get it going and could only move it a few feet, (Neutral rev and drop into gear.), once I had a friend tow it rest of way home, the most I can do is start it up then it dies. The only way I can get the engine to stay running is to lay on the gas. The moment I lift off the gas it dies.

If anyone knows a good solution feel free to share.

I also have a 92 Probe and it did the same thing. I will tell you it wasn't the fuel pump or filter. Im looking for a diagram to the fuses under the hood. Can't find one of those either. Im checking on the Air intake or throttlebody, everything has a sensor or fuse.

Vary likely its the Altinator. Ask a mechanic but I really do think you should look into the Altinator there not to hard to get out of probes so it shouldnt be to sticky of a job either.

My 2003 neon stalls as soon as I take my foot off of the accelerator pedal or slow down it just dies....i put it in neutral and rev the engine and it revs to 4000 rpm and just breaks up....i just changed...

you may have a dirty fuel filter or the throttle plate may need cleaning.the throttle plate is the valve that moves in the intake when you move the gas pedal.if they get too dirty they cause a restriction in the intake and cause the car to also could be a tps sensor problem but this should put the check engine light on but not always.the breaking up of the motor when you rev it to 4000 rpm`s is the rev limiter in the computer that shuts down the firing of the plugs and injecotrs so you don`t cause damage to the motor when there is no load on it.

Switching back 4WD to 2WD - 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4L Limited Petrol

With any 4WD like this, always move a few feet in the opposite direction when disengaging. If you were moving fwd in 4wd, switch to 2wd, back up a few feet, then go fwd.

92 gmc c2500 turbo diesel. starts then dies after a few seconds.

Sounds like the Pump Mounted Injection Module.. Starts, dies, Starts dies... Not a fun fix.. but atleast it's just under the intake..

Automatic choke stopped working- difficulty start- revs dropping low at stop

Quick and easy attempt to fix might be to try some fuel injector cleaner, the purple bottle stuff I put in, is only about $3 a bottle, and seems to eliminate similiar symptoms brought on by bad gas.
