Question about 2005 Chrysler 300
Is it trying to turn, or just clicking? if its just clicking, it could be your starter or ignition coil. if its turning, but not starting, then it could be your spark plugs, spark plug wires or distributor cap/coil packs.
ignition coil should be tested first, by disconnecting the coil wire from the distributor/coil pack end, and holding the bare end very close to a part of the cars metal frame. have someone turn the ignition, and if the ignition coil is good, you should see a spark/arc.
spark plugs can be removed and examined for white/black discoloration and or oily build-up.
the starter can be tested by a specialty starter/alternator shop and they may be able to cheaply sell you a new cellaniod, a cellaniod contact, or they may need to rebuild it for around $100.
your gas pump may be bad, in which caxe you can try to crank it with the gas line removed from the fuel injector, and see if fuel comes out of it.
your timeing belt/chain may be broken, in which case, you look to see if the cylinder positions change when moved in gear, with the cylinder cover removed.
i suggest you get a "chilton's" or "hayne's" manual specific to your model for around $20,. they have illustrations/walk throughs of all the diagnostic procedures i have mentioned, and may have some more i havent mentioned.
