I have spark at the plugs and fuel at the injectors but still will not start what else should i be looking at ?

Thats a tough one only because it could be many things. The 2 most common situation that would cause that behavior are: Coil pack/spark plug issue or fuel injectors. The easiest and less invassive would be to add a bottle of Seafoam or equivelent to your fuel tank with only 1/4 fuel remaining. Once empty, run another in a 1/2 tank, and then a third in a full tank. This should clean the fuel injectors. The more invassive option is to check your spark plugs and wire ends. Look for scortching on the spark plug which would support moisture in the spark plug wells or a cracked spark plug. However, if your issue is mainly under light load, I would think the a clogged or partially clogged fuel injector or injectors.

Car wont start


could be few different problems first u need to check for fuel pressure and spark
hook a fuel pressure gauge up and see if ur getting any fuel pressure if you have no fuel pressure u either have bad pump or out of gas (don't laugh i had cars come in shop for a no start that where just out gas)
if u have fuel pressure
then check for spark
take one spark plug wire of a spark plug and hold wire about 1/4 inch away from either the spark plug or engine block if u see a spark or hear one
if you have no spark your looking at a few different possibles Bad coil, ignition module, crank sensor, etc
if you have fuel pressure and spark but still no start u need to check for injector pluse (basically computer telling fuel injectors to open)
but now i think I'm getting over your head let me know if this helps and i try to walk u threw other things if this dont help

My Mitsubushi Space Star Car won't Start. What can I try?


spark plugs are deep in the head yet you should get all the the old fuel out first, stale fuel wont ignite and will also clogg fuel filter. you need a mix of atleast 70% new fuel even then its not good for the injecters. If its a manual gearbox a tow start is a quick fix although no go for auto's. cant be much wrong if car was fine when parked, plugs-fuel-filter and possibly fuel pump for sure. If that doesnt fix take plug out put in lead and crank engine to be sure you have spark even just put any plug you know works in lead leaving your plugs in engine just to check for spark y turning over engine looking for spark on plug good spark will be blue but any spark is good.

I have a mitsubishi colt, and it has problems starting in the mornings. It turns over, but wont start, when I eventually get it started its very lumpy, and when I push the accellerator the engine almost...


There is no simple answer, there are to many variables. If you have access to a scan tool, pulling the codes should help. Without them its back to old school hunt and peck method. At this point we need to narrow down the problem. You need to test for spark.
  1. Tag and disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
  2. Remove the spark plugs and install the spark plug wires to each spark plug.
  3. Ground (do not hold spark plug) the spark plug; check if spark occurs while engine is being cranked.
Crank the engine for no more than 2 seconds at a time to prevent flooding the engine with gasoline.
If you have spark, You will want to make sure you have fuel injector pulse, along with fuel pressure. If you have spark ..simply spray some starting fluid in through the air filter and hold the gas pedal to the floor and crank it over while spraying. If it fires up, you know it is fuel related( fuel pump, regulator, or ECM if no injector pulse) . If you have no spark then look at ignition coil connection and trace through to the distributor( if equipped ). The crank shaft sensor has a tendency to fail on these as well. This should give you a few things to test and check to start you on your way to narrowing it down. If you have no spark then look at ignition coil connection for power and trace through to the distributor( if equipped ). If it is DIS( no distributor). It may be the Crank sensor or the ECU. The crank shaft sensor has a tendency to fail on these as well.
The ECU uses the signal sent from the Crank sensor to trigger the spark and fuel injectors. ( make certain you have checked all fuses)

2003 Hyundai Sonata with 4 cyl. PO301 error code. Have replaced spark plugs, wires, coil packs, and mass air flow sensor. Replaced air filter due to heavy gas smell. Car was starting after tapping gas 3...


P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected.

Being you have a heavy gas smell I would look into the injectors. If injector #1 is over producing it can cause a misfire. Test your compression and fuel pressure.

Giving a 300 and a 301 code where do i start sounds fine when started and then when you put in gear it start misfiring


P0300 - Random / Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

Possible Causes:

Most likely your issue is with cylinder number 1. Follow the info I have provided and you should be able to solve this issue.

Odb 0308 - misfire #8 odb 0300 - random


Look at the spark plug, if looks ok then that's not the problem.with spark plug out check cylinder compression if good then check fuel injector, reinstall spark plug, start engine and listen for clicking noise at fuel injector, if none bad injector replace.

1988 honda accord lxi- will start if I spray starting fluid into the throttle body. will not start in hot weather


Clogged fuel injectors. Or, starting fluid is basically high octane fuel which doesnt require efficient or hot spark plugs to start, so maybe you need to look at your ignition system, especially your spark plugs, wires, or cup rotors -- perhaps they are not delivering a hot enough spark for regular fuel. While at it, also check the ignition timing. In other words, clean your injectors and get a tune up. Finally, make sure the throttle body is not leaking air.
