i have a 99 1/2 jetta it was doing the same thing...well it still kinda is. I do not have the origional master key to my car...its one i had a lock smith make after I lost my keys. But I had the door relay checked in my drivers side and got it fixed and now the alarm arms and unarms with the key the way it was supposed to.

But now I have to hold the key in the open position to open the car becasue when I unlock it and remove the key it automatically relocks the car and arms the alarm...any ideas on this issue?

Put your key in the drivers side from the outside door and turn the key one time to the right to lock your car and two times to unlock it and if your having trouble with the alarm going off open the trunk with the key to disable the alarm if it turned on.

It could be your door lock module that has started failing, when that happens the car will think the door is either open or closed all the time and when opened with the key the alarm will not disengage. I would star checking that first.

My 98 kia sportage wont start

It sounds like the key sensor in the drivers door is malfunctioning, the drivers door is the only door that can enable/disable the alarm, if you try to unlock any of the others it will trigger the alarm.

Sometimes with my Kia I have to (without opening the door), cycle lock and unlock several times before the alarm is disarmed.

Have you tried this is succession, with all the doors locked:-

put the key in the drivers door, turn to lock and then to unlock, the alarm should disarm.

Also, if any of the door locks are jammed, the alarm will still activate when you try to unlock the drivers door.

If that fails and the alarm still activates, then it's a problem with the key sensor in the door.

Panic alarm not turn off

Try unlocking the car with the key, not the remote.

Unable to lock doors on a 2000 passat, but the alarm is activated. How can I disable the alarm?

easy and cheap repair ,look on the end of the door lever with the door handle and their is a rubber cover ,remove this and undo the allen headed screw ,now hold the door handle and pull it out to open the door position the slide it backwards and it will come out ,look on the back of the door lock and their is a contraption that opens the door lock inside the door .this kit for this is cheap from the auto factor about 2 euros is all i pay for this kit ,fiddly job to fit but easy to do then refit the door handle ,you can reset the alarm by looking for the flat slot on the door lock inside and turn it with screwdriver as this will lock and unlock the lock de-activating the alarm .Right time to go to work now this is the last answer for now as have a citreon picasso to repair and a citreon timing belt to change ,real cars but first iam off for my morning coffee as this is spain after all land of manana ,siesta and fiesta

I went to unlock the driver side door of my 91 acura legend and i guess i set factory alarm off.i do not have original key and my car wont start.. help p[lease!!!!!

The alarm must of activated , the alarm is controlled by the locks, go to passenger door and use the key to lock and then unlock the door, this will shut down alarm, you may have to use the passenger door to shut down alarm due to a bad switch in drivers door, this will allow you to start the car, you can also not lock door and alarm may not arm. let me know if the passenger door lock works, good day.

How do I turn off the door alarm on my 2002 Chrysler PT? When I put the key in and unlock the door, the alarm goes off and doesn't stop until I turn the ignition on.

this is a standard warning to tell you the keys are in the ignition to help prevent them from being locked inside. This is a factory alarm and cannot be turned off

Everytime I lock the car using the key fob, about 30 seconds later the alarm sounds but the lights do not flash and the horn does not sound. Only when I unlock the car will it go off. I have disconnected...

you may have a bad door switch, theres a switch on the drivers door lock, when door is unlocked with fob or key the switch is activeated to shut alarm down, the lock moves to hit switch with key or fob,so if the switch is bad it will not shut down alarm, i would start there, door panel has to be remove, then latch has to be remove to get to switch, then test with a meter see if it opens and closes the connection, hope this helps.

Alarm system won't shut off

You might try locking all the doors from the inside and then closing them all. Then try unlocking the car with the key itself (NOT THE FOB) manualy. Try a combination of these things, like maybe locking it manualy with the key itself too. Usualy some sort of locking or unlocking manualy with the key will reset the system. Its almost luike proving to the car that you are who you say you are.

Car alarm

Try closing it up, and turning the key in the door to lock the doors (arming the system), then a few seconds later, disarm by unlocking the door with the key - that's kind of a soft reboot of the system and it may fix your problem.
