First thing u need to do is scan ur computer codes. U can get that done at almost any parts store. ( auto zone, checkers...). That should pin point where your problem is. And by the way fuel filters don't get clogged that easy these days. Its possible but not that common.

I have a 1998 Dodge Caravan. I got a "tune up" approx. 2 weeks ago with new spark plugs, fuel filter & air filter. It did fine driving around town & on a 130 mile trip. I filled up with...

Sounds like you got a tank of bad gas. That would easily cause your issues. Start by draining as much as you can, put a can of Seafoam in there, add a few gallons of fresh gas, drive to the gas station and tank up, and run that tank down until your gas light comes on before adding more. You may end up needing a fuel filter or plugs again, but with minimal run time on the bad gas, you'll probably be fine.

Drinking gas

For sure your car has skipped a maintenance schedule. You might have to check for timing tuning of the vehicle to get it back to good efficient condition.
I have some tips posted in my tiips column of my profile and I wish you can have a glance on it. It might help a lot in these times of fuel crisis and rising cost.
Get your fuel pump calibrated, check the plug firing to see if the fuel is high or low( a clean burnt plug will indicate good combustion)If sooty or dark the fuel is too much and is wasted without use on the engine.
The next time choose an engine with moderation and fuel efficiency for the purpose required. I would like a small car with greater efficiency for the short trip/city drives and the larger one for family trips and off country.

Poor gas mileage after a long trip on my 2008 Chevy HHR

How about Fuel filter? How many miles on vehicle? In some cases a fuel filter can cause this as well as a "lazy" o2 sensor. If to lazy, ecm will set check engine lite.

When driving my car feels like its running out of gas shuts off then turns back on and is ok. whats wrong with it?

Is there any check engine lights on?Check the fuel filter.Remove the fuel filter, and try, with your lips, blowing threw the filter. It should be easy to blow threw it.If it is not easy to blow threw, then, replace the filter.Your not out of the woods yet.If the fuel pump doesn`t go out because of the strain on it,then you are in the clear. Also if the fuel filter is not blocked, then the fuel pump might be at fault.More testing will have to be performed to tell.I would need more information,It could be any thing.

Similar Problem: Van bogs down when you step on the gas

2 simple causes for your symptoms would be water in the fuel tank (pour drygas into the tank to alleviate this problem) or a leak in the exhaust system. If both items don't apply, check for any vacuum leaks under the hood. You've isolated the problem to either vacuum leaks or a fuel problem. Hopefully, this will give you a general area to look and solve your problem. Best of luck.

1998 Chevy Tahoe Dies Out While Driving

I would suspect fuel pump before an odd ecm problem. When was you last fuel filter? An extremely dirty filter will wipe out these fuel pumps if left in play too long.

Gas mileage dropping

While changing all the filters and things, did you change the fuel filter? It could have just been poor quality fuel which can be caused by getting fuel from the bottom of the barrel so to say. If the station you got the gas at was getting low there is a chance that there was water in the fuel. Normally this would cause the vehicle to run a little bit rough, but not always. I would run another tank of fuel through it and see what you get on a second tank.
