I would say you could have a bad tie rod. They will make a knocking sound when bad, as you described. Thank you for choosing FixYa. They can be hard to change if you are unfamiliar with the suspension.

When you hit a bump could be stadilisator link loose ,tie rod ball joint table bushing at a stop sing let say you turn on the left side does it make a tok tok tok tok thats a cv joint
Does it sound like the engine? Can you localize it at all to the front or back, left or right? Does it seem to match the speed - knocks faster the faster you go?
Check your front sprocket for missing teeth. I have broken all of them off and it would only slip at times making a horrible sound and I have also had every other tooth go missing. This is all due to a wore out chain. You need to check you chain for wear by pulling it away from the rear sprocket. If you can pull it away from the sprocket and see a fair amount of space between the teeth, replace the chain. Also both sprockets at the same time. Repost another question if more problems
Oh Oh, better take that to a garage. When under power there is no knock but idling there is a knock? Sounds like a bearing on the crankshaft. To find out start and let it idle then disconnect and then reconnect the sparkplug wires one at a time. If the knocking stops, that cylinder is bad In any event it is bad news, rebuild or new engine

See if you can bounce car and replicate the noise. If you can, you should be able to find it, and put your hand on it. Stabilizer bushing are a place to look, both at the lower a arm and on the frame. If you narrow it down to the strut, it will need to be replaced. The front trans mount also goes bad, try putting it in drive with your foot on the brake and give it some gas and see if the engine moves an excessive amount.
There are a few suspension parts that can cause knocking noises. Such as swar bar loose, strut mounts going bad. You should really have a shop do a complete suspension check.
What was said about the wear of the front end part when the alignment was given? I could be wrong but, I would say, Not likely for the tie rod ends and definately not the shocks for knocking sounds.. It sounds more like bad ball joints poping, although the idler arm and tye rod ends could be worn also .
