The thermostat is located inside the upper radiator hose where it attaches to the front/top of the motor. Undo the clamp on the large hose at that point using a screwdriver. Pull the hose off and you will see the round thermostat sitting in the "neck" that the hose was wrapped around. Take out the thermostat using a screwdriver by prying it out. Take note how the thermostat was sitting because when installing the new thermostat you must make sure the same side is facing outward or you will get it in backwards. Put the new thermostat back in the same way and then replace the hose and clamp and tighten.

The code you got may not have indicated the correct coil, that was bad

I would put the old coil back in #6 & either walk the new coil to another cylinder, or get professonal help in the form of a scan tool in Mode $06,
if applicable on your vehicle & check for misfires that why

well im not sure what engine you got a 4 or 6 cyl but either way its in the front of the engine,if its a 4 cyl its on the right side of the engine in the front,if its a 6 cyl its more in the middle left of the engine,,,assuming you are looking for the oil dipstick

The firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6. The cylinders are, front bank is from drivers side to passenger, 6-5-4 , and 3-2-1 at the firewall.
