I have a 94, a far cousin of yours but i actually had the same problem. how do you know your battery is charged?. Mine turned out to be a bad cell in the battery.. i had no clicking or anything like you. the battery was so low i just didn't do anything no idiot lights or buzzer. Do any of your idiot lights come on like their should any buzzing? can you hear the fuel pump? if so and nothing have your battery checked for free at auto zone if possible.

PS: Delco battery's are notorious for breaking at the posts where the cables connect and will cause your symptom also.. get dirty under there and if your connections are good take them off clean with a wire brush and get a can of battery post treatment and sealer.. and i should say do all this if the battery is confirmed a good healthy battery.

Make sure you have a good connection on the battery. Also make sure that the battery cables are free of curosion.

Why won't my car crank or start now? It worked last night today won't start.

Most likely, the problem you are dealing with is a dead battery. The reason this is apparent is you said "there is no clicking noise like a bad starter, it just does nothing..." Normally, if there is any charge at all in the battery, you will get the clicking noise you describe as the ignition circuit is trying to charge the solenoid that turns over the starter and turns on the engine. If you have a battery jumper box available, your S40 will probably start at the first flick of you ignition key if your battery is fairly new. To hook up the battery box, just place the clips as you would standard jumper cables, red to red (+) on the battery and black (-) to a good ground point on the engine (it has to be solid metal-to-metal contact). Then turn key to fire up the engine. Once your car has started you have to run it about 10 miles to put any sort of charge back into the battery. If the battery won't hold the charge then it is time to replace it.

Make sure battery is fully charged. Check all battery cable connections. Make sure they are tight and free of corrosion.

What is wrong when you turn the key to start and the radio and all the instruments turn on but the starter doesn't click and the engine doesn't turn on even after trying to jump start it

Dead battery

Dangerous practice to try & jump a dead battery

The battery cables could be loose at either end or corroded internally

Most likely the battery is worn out, if original to car
since it was new, or the starter solenoid is worn

You do not want to jump any vehicle made after the
year 2000 or your asking for possible problems with
todays electronics.

You need a good battery that has been tested & fully
charged, then only jump with a jump pack, not another car

Hyundai Sante Fe Imobiliser problem?

can you hear the starter click at all take a hammer and tap on the starter if that works then you know the starter is bad, if you are comfortable enough take out the battery and the starter and take them to your local autozone have them tested just because a battery is fully charged doesn't mean that it doesn't have a dead cell or 2. They can test the starter also

Where is the starter/solenoid located on a 2003 ford expedition 5.4 liter

You checked the relays, found nothing wrong,so you
installed new ones anyway?

You checked the starter how?

You hear the solenoid click & that doesn't tell you
where it is?

When you try to start the car it just clicks, if you turn the headlights when the cars not running the dashboard lights start to flicker.

Sounds like a very low battery to me. You need to have your battery and charging sytem checked.

Truck isn't starting. Starter doesn't click when key is turned. Weak electrical - lights are dim and nothing comes on (radio, clock, etc) when I turn key to accessory position. Has had prior...

you have to have 12.4 volts showing on your battery to even attempt to start your car,, you need to completely charge the battery , ( if you have a walmart near you, they will not only charge it for you, but they run a Load test , which tells how the battery holds up under a Load , such as when trying to start the vehicle,, ) I would venture to say that you have a bad battery ,, it only take one bad cell to make it pretty much worthless, Plus the alternator is being over worked trying to charge it as it runs the car for you after starting,, ( note, never disconnect the battery when the car is running to check to see if the alternator is working, that will result in bad problems , such as computer stoppage) once your sure you have a fully charged, good battery in place, use a volt meter to check ,, start the vehicle and place the meter probe's on the battery terminals,, you should get a reading of no less than 13.5 volts, and should see that up to 14.5 volts on the meter, if you do the alternator is doing its job.

Ferrari 328GTS 1986. Has been in storage. Fully charged battery but when turn on ignition it just clicks then nothing. Any advice appreciated. Thanks Alan

Since it has be sitting in storage suggest you start out by cleaning the barttery cable ends. Then try to start it. If you are still just getting clicks then try a jump start. If it still won't start, then take the fan belt off and make sure that the engine will turn by hand - with a large socket wrench that is! If it will turn by hand, it is in your starting circuit, either a weak solenoid or bad starter. If it doesn't turn then it is internal to the engine.

My hyundai santa fey has just lost all electrics.Drove it fine to shop turned engine off. went to turn it back on nothing -no lights nothing from the battery even the key doesn`t work.tried jump start but...

i would start by checking the connections on the battery and having the battery tested, also why where you taking it to the shop?, if the connection are dirty a jump start wont work, they may look clean but loosen them and twist them on battery terminals to make good connection then tighten them ,and make sure battery is fully charged,
