How do I get the brake caliper hydrolic sleeve to go back in far enough for the caliper to fit back over the new brake pads?

Using the inside pad, remove the clip from the back of the pad. Place the pad back against the caliper in its original position and 524e65b.jpgusing a 7" C-clamp open the clamp to fit over the caliper and brake pad in the center. Then turning the screw end of the clamp slowly push the caliper back. Watch that it's going in evenly. Once the pad touched the caliper you are done. Remove the C Clamp and old pad a install you new pads.

How to Fully retract piston into caliper body using a "C" clamp

The rear brakes on the 2004 need to be compressed with a special tool available at any parts store. You need to "screw" the caliper piston in instead of pushing it in with the "C" clamp.

How do I compress the cylinders in the front calipers?

There are a few options here. There are tools available specifically for this job, or you can use one of the old brake pads and a large C-clamp.

The C-Clamp method - Insert the pad that normally rests against the piston, then hold a shop rag against the back of the caliper. Install the C-Clamp so that the screw part is situated near the middle of the pad, then begin compressing by screwing the clamp tighter, until the pad is flush with the caliper. You can now remove the pad from the caliper, install the new pads, and install the caliper.

Any special tools required for front brakes on a 1991 Dodge Ram 1500 ?

Nothing other than Caliper piston retractor or large "c" clamp to push the caliper piston back into the caliper body.

How to retract the plunger in the rear caliper

For many rear calipers you have to screw them in. On a Honda I used needle now pliers. I put the tips in the slots on the face of the piston and turned it.

How to change rear brakes on a 2006 uplander how to push caliper back in?

Some of these calipers do not have the ability to be pushed back in with a c-clamp or even a GM caliper tool....there is however, a small diamond shaped piece of metal on the caliper (Caliper reset tool) that allows you to wind the piston back in,,,,I just went through the same thing

get a nice pair of snap on water pump pliers and a G clamp .place G clamp on piston and apply slight pressure then turn piston with the water pump pliers ,better getting er indoors to tighten clamp very slowly whilst you support the caliper and wind the piston in at the same time.
