Get a digital voltmeter and read directly across the battery terminals without the car on. if it reads lower than 12.3v, it needs a good trickle charge, (any maintenance garage can do this for you.) also if its not a maintenance free battery, you might want to check the fluid levels inside the battery, they may be low, you do this by taking the caps off and use a flashlight to look inside, caution! don't get any heat source or spark near the battery, if low, fill with distilled water don't use tap water.... then drive the car about 30 miles, or have it trickle charged for about 5 hours. If it reads12v, its got a bad cell or high resistance buildup on the plates, it'll need a new battery and if the battery is older than 3 years its time to purchase a new one anyway! Hope this helps!

One of two issues may be at hand...
You have a slow draw, as in a glove box door light staying on, or something like that...
or...your battery is failing. You can get that tested at auto parts stores, better if removed.

A/c recharge car

If you need a recharge, you have a leak. You will be losing refrigerant 24 hours a day / 7 days a week and need to recharge when it gets low. Most garages and shops offer recharging A/C units from $99 and up. You might want to get an estimate to have the leak fixed before recharging as that would be a "once & done" arrangement. If the leak is in a location that is hard to access, it may cost over $1000 to fix - in which case recharging once or twice a year may not be quite so bad.. Good luck!

2010 G37 - battery was dead - jumped it off and drove it for twenty minutes. Next morning it wouldn't start and now it wont stop clicking (like a relay). Any suggestions?

if the battery goes dead or low it must be recharged with a charger, driving the car will not recharge it properly. The alternator is only meant to maintain the battery, not recharge it. Get the battery recharged and verified and then try again.

What causes intermittent A/C on a 2000 Nissan Altima 4 cyl?

Your A/C is low on freon when you are A/C mode the compressor goes on and off with the low pressure switch. Auto parts stores carry recharge kits for most all cars/trucks. follow instructions on can for charging

1997 ford escort battery new battery dead overnight no electrical works no blown fuses jump start and cables start to melt will push start and run

Check battery cables are correct ! Prime suspect here ! Alternator may be damaged and shorting .. Don't drive any car that will melt jumper cables ! Something very basic wrong here.

it realy sounds like you have knocked the battery flat try to recharge it for a fuw days on a home charger off the car if poss if not poss that should still charge up but it takes a little longer to fully recharge the battery up but it will take at least two or three dayes to fully recharge it the way to work it out how long it should take is this,,,a 40amp hour battery will take 10 hours to recharge at 4 amps thats its max charge too?
or devide the amp hour by 10,,,ie: 60amp takes at 4 amp =15 hours charging,,,but it can be charged at 6 amps then its only 10 hours,,, i know,,,boring huh?

Battery light went on and the vehicle died under way 20 minutes later.

If the Power steering and everything else seems to work the problem should be in the Alternator or Battery. Check your Battery cables for loose or dirty connections.

If you find the Battery cables were the problem, you need to recharge the Battery. A jumpstart may get you going, but the Alternator is meant to keep up with the current electrical demands and it will take a long time to fully recharge the Battery.

Autozone and Oreillys can check the Alternator and Battery if they are carried in, or on the car. Since the Expedition is dead, you can take in the Battery for a recharge and testing. This will keep you from needless work removing the Alternator if only the Battery was bad. If the Battery tests good after the recharge, then your only remaining option is to remove the Alternator for testing. Should both the Battery and the Alternator test out good, you have a major electrical malfunction. You will need an electrical shop.

My air blows hot

Got to your auto parts store and get a can of R-134a refrigerant with the filling cable, but make sure it's the version that has the red dye in it. Run your car with the A/C and add the canister to the low pressure side of the A/C hookups. The dye will show you the leak, but it may not be in the engine compartment, it may be at the heat exchanger inside the dash, which is difficult to access.
