Question about 2003 Toyota Highlander

1 Answer

I lost my only key to my 2003 toyota highlander. The dealership tells me that I need to purchase a new engine immobilizer for $1500. Sounds crazy, what can I do.

I'am not toyota expert, but the dealer should be able to
use your VIN# to find out what key code came from the

Also I see no reason that the immobilizer could not
be by passed or a product bought to install and eliminate it

I'm have no experience in that area, so keep that in mind

I would ,if it were mine, not do as the dealer suggested

Yes that is correct. But sometimes the trans is sealed off, so even having the fluid checked has to be done by the dealership.

I need the key to start engine or by-pass the immobilizer.

There is a chip in the key on the newer cars. The dealer should be able to send your information to Hyundai and order a new key. Pricey. Check with another dealer.

2000 Model toyota camry lost all keys

If you have lost all keys, you must see a Toyota dealership to have them reseed the immobilizer and cut a new key or keys. They shouldnt charge you more than 2-2.5 hours labor plus the cost of keys. I do these all the time

Get another immobilizer key

You have to buy the key, get it cut, and then have it programmed by a Toyota dealer, using their computer tool. You also MUST have the Master key (the BLACK ONE) to program an additional key
