Resetting the airbag light on your Chevy Silverado should be easy to do. Follow this video to watch it being done in a Chevy Silverado. To start with, you will:
Put the key into the ignition
Turn the key to the "on" position
Wait for the airbag light to turn on
Wait to continue until the airbag light turns off (around seven seconds)
Repeat the same steps twice more
Turn on your engine
After you take these steps, your airbag light should turn off. If it doesn't do so, then you should consider taking your vehicle in for diagnostic testing.
If the airbag light remains on, it could mean that something in the system is faulty. That could mean the airbag, the computer wiring, or another issue. Oftentimes, when the airbag light comes on unexpectedly, it is because of interference with the switch. Feb 12, 2021
Your airbag light staying on is telling u there is an issue with the airbag system. This type of repair should be taken to a qualified service center to be repaired. An accidental airbag deployment could cause severe injuries and possibly death. Unless u are a qualified service tech I would not attempt airbag repairs.
If the electrical connector isn't plugged in the light will stay on. I 4got to plug mine back in after changing out heater core and it was lit til i had to take the dash back apart again. That'd be the only reason I know of, or maybe a fuse. Hope I was able to help.
On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident. Most systems can only be diagnosed using a scanner designed for the airbag system, however some use flash codes to indicate the problem. The scanners at Auto Zone or the ones that sell for @ $50 will not access the airbag system, only the engine systems (check engine light). This website gives you the procedure for diagnosing and resetting some systems without a scanner. Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate that (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) and some require a scan tool. http://www.airbagsolutions.com/

On some vehicles, the light is flashing a two digit code. Once you know the code, you can most likely repair it yourself. There are fairly easy procedures that most people are capable of repairing.
This is a common occurance in vw's.
In order to turn off the airbag light you need to have a scan tool hooked up to your car because the airbag detected a fault of some sort, or it could be a faulty component in the airbag system itself.
