Should be located on the back side of the engine about half way down. with the gear set to the driver side

I have seen issues like this on other Honda's and the problem turned out to be the ignition starter switch. Do this, jumper power directly to the starter solenoid trigger wire and see if the engine cranks.

if you lay in front of the car there behind lower grill right in front is the starter they have 2 to 3 bolts make sure diconect battery first then take off the bolts and pull starter bolts one top one bottom then pull off old put on new make sure to clean the wires with a wire brush so have good contact should take maybe hour and a half

you will need to disconnect the positive cable from the battery then you will need to locate the starter you will have two or three bolt that you will need to remove then disconnect the wiring from the starter and mark wires so you know where they to remove the starter and replace in reverse...hope this helps you out please leave a review thanks sincerely D.Jones

disconnect the cable to the battery........there is 3 bolt holding the starter to the engine/transmission housing. You may need to remove the air intake manifold to gain access to the work area.

Replace the copper contacts inside the starter motor, it connects the current to the rotor once the bendix drive gear is engaged with the ring gear.

I replaced the starter on my 2003 4 cyc honda accord the car was running fine bdfore the starter problem now the car lopes at an idle and the manifold gets extremly hot .. have i missed a step replaceing...


I would go back and double check the vacuum lines, I know there were several I had to disconnect on the air inlet tube, when I replaced the starter on my Honda. it sounds like a vacuum leak. the second thing to check would be the EGR valve. Good Luck!

Removing starter


It's not that easy. Yes, 2 bolts hold the starter down but you have to remove the whole intake manifold to access the starter to remove it.
