Question about 2005 Dodge Neon

2 Answers

This is in reference to my 2005 Dodge Neon. My brake light is on and the break petal pushes really easy (almost to the floor) before it grabs; however it only feels like the from brakes are grabing, futhermore I have just had the rear brakes replaced and just added some break fluid. What could the problem be?

Brake lights are on because there's not enough pressure in the brake lines to push the pedal back up to the top.

It sounds like the brake lines are not bled. Was the brake job done by a garage ?

There is a leak somewhere in the hydraulic system,if you had to add fluid this is NOT normal, bring it back to whoever did the rear brakes, maybe they left a bleeder screw loose. THIS IS DANGEROUS, DO NOT WAIT!!!! If you need more help get back to me Thanks Ray

When the rear brakes were done, the entire brake
system should have been flushed. Do that

You flush the system every 2 years

There is no reason to top off ANY Vehicle
fluids, as none are consummed

Go back over the rear bake work, parking brake
system and check front brakes for need work

Check power brake booster for vacuum leaks

How do I bleed new brake calipers on a 2005 dodge power wagon?

your on the right track just make sure person on the brake pedal is holding them to the floor when you open bleeder and its closed all the way before the pedal is lifted, repeat till all air is out and you have a good stream of fluid coming out. and make sure your bleeding from furthest wheel away from master cylinder =1 passengers side rear,2 drivers side rear 3 passengers side front 4 drivers side front make sure you reset proportion valve just below master cylinder a rubber plug ,push it all the way in you'll know you got it when brake lite on dash goes out. I really hope this helped ,IF IT DID LET ME KNOW.

2005 jeep liberty brake lights don't work, none of them but fuses and brake light switch are good.

maybe brake light switch located near your brake petal needs adjusting...its simply a push button that the brake petal hits as the brake petal is depressed usually u can just pull on them toward you and they'll "self-adjust" after pressing on brake petal...push on brake petal with ur hand and make sure this button is depressed while the pedal is down...

My 2005 dodge neon, break light goes on when i accelorate, this happened two weeks ago and my cable snapped and froze up the back what?

You have anti-lock brakes which apply brake pressure to each wheel keep the wheels from locking up. That system can also apply pressure to a wheel in error.
I would have the ABS system checked out including the computer for trouble codes.

2005 dodge neon - revs high in park nuetral and tough to push break pedal down. mechanic doesn't know what it is. Anyone have this problem resolved before? Thanks

sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak. When you lose vacuum the brake booster doesn't operate right. You need to go too a different mechanic. Could be the idle selonoid staying open or even a bad brake booster or vacuum hose came off.

Best way to bleed brakes on a 2002 dodge neon

get a brake bleeder kit with the gun and follow the directions, just make sure after you do each brake that you check the fluid level and add some if needed or you will fill you line full of air and have to start over. Also be very careful with the bleeders, they break easy and are really hard to change if you break one. Hope this helps, been there, i own one too.

We found a leak in one of the rear brakes in our 05 Dodge Neon SXT. while driving, the brakes would respond with one pump, then the next my foot would go to the floor. if i pushed hard as they were on

if you found a leak, was is an air leak or a fluid leak? Since you state the rear brakes were leaking I assume its brake fluid. You must clean away all fluid and have the car securely supported in the air to see were the leak is coming from with someone else pressing on the brake pedal while you watch underneath the area with the problem

I HAVE A 1998 dodge ram 318 1500 two wheel drive the abs and brake light come on but it brakes fine when the brake light and abs light go out i have to really push the pedal down to stop the petal feels...

you need to check the break fluid level now
i do think it is too late tho
what it sounds like is air in your break system
you need to bleed the breaks not doing so can damage the break booster
you need to add fluid to the booster now as it will help and may not need bleeding
if you keep driving the way it is you may loose your breaks all together which is a danger to you and others
you need to have this attended asap it is not a hard job or expensive job
when you put fluid in the car pump the breaks every time you need to or they get soft this forces the fluid through the pips altho the air may have no where to escape which is why we bleed them to let the air out
hope this helps

It sounds like you have a faulty brake light switch, wich happened last year to a friend of mine on her plymouth. The switch is located above the brake petal on the petal assembly that bolts to your dash. It is a retivly inexpensive part, and somewhat easy to replace, requiring minamal tools. (screw driver and a pair of needle nose)
Hope this helps!
By the way, It may cause the check engine light to go on after a while of it doing this, reading faulty circut brake light switch, as it did when my friend had the same problem.
