I have recently bought a Jeep Cherokee 2.4 Sport petrol (2005) and believe that the fuel consumption is excessive. It was serviced and MOTd from a reputable company on purchase but I only average 352...

Unless you have an engine light on, the first thing I would check is tire pressure. You should run at least 35 psi. Tire size can make a big difference also, smaller is better. If you have very large off-road tires, you will pay for poor rolling resistance. Use skinny, tall tires for better mileage. The other obvious item would be the air filter, make sure it is new every 10,000 miles. The computer is programmed to deliver fuel for an expected amount of air delivery, if the air can't get through, it will run rich and get poor mileage and performance.

Buick regal 92 3.8L Horrible fuel mileage

Sounds like you might have an oxygen sensor problem. Your catalytic converter(s) maybe defective or dirty. That in turn can dirty up the oxygen sensor. A defective oxygen sensor will send faulty info to the computer, interpreting the fumes as cold (even when the engine warms up). That causes the computer to adjust the fuel mixture to very rich, giving you poor gas mileage and the fuel smell. Hope it helps.

1998 buick park ave ultra service engine soon light will come on the go off in 2 weeks then returns about 1 month later took it to serval mechanics shows no problems fuel average goes down to 16 mpg

you have a paracitic load on the engine, even if the light has gone off the code will still be stored in the computer until someone clears it, get it read out and it will give you a pretty good idea of what set it off

I get very poor gas mlieage. i used to get 300 miles per tank, now it dropped its way down to 250. replace O2 sensors maybe?

anytime a complaint is poor fuel milage and all diagnostics prove to be ok and the 02 sensor(s) have over 70th on them we replace them.

Do not replace the one (s) after the catalytic converter. They have very little to do with fuel control.

Also if you have a MAF in the intake near the air filter these become dirty and sometimes can be cleaned.
When they get dirty the computer will not see the air and in return will not add enough fuel.

Poor Fuel Mileage 2006 Hyundai Sonata 2.4 motor

I don't know from where you bought the car but do you feel certain that typical causes such as fouled plugs or clogged air filters are not at fault?
Most dealers, even the shlocks don't normally skimp on the simple stuff but who knows about a private source?
That does seem low, especially the city numbers. I don't think Hyundai is any leader in gas mileage but they are better than what you are getting.
