Question about 1998 Ford Mustang
The problem here was with the E-Brake switch found at the back of the emergency brake handle. When applied the switch sends a signal to a light on the dash as well as a signal to the conv-top switch. When the E[Brake was appied I noticed the "BRAKE" light was not lite on the dash telling me there was no signal coming from that switch. What had to be done? I pulled the console out, found the E-Brake swith. The switch appeared to have a black ring around the contact surface point. I cleaned the contact point with a very fine grade emery cloth type sandpaper, reinstalled the swith at the correct mounting point behind the E-Brake handle, plugged the con-top switch up, turned the key to the "RUN" position and the top worked like brand new. It goes up and down from the switch like Ford engineered it to.
