This is the typical Chevy V8 firing order diagram, the plug wires go in sequence in a clockwise direction with number one plug just to he right of the 6 o'clock position on the distributor cap. Just match up the colors in the diagram, all Chevy V8 engines have the same firing order.

Just match up the numbers in the daigram and you have it correctly wired.

One quick note here, the 3.4 V6 doesn't use a Distributor, it has a direct fire ignition system, this means each cylinder has its own separate ignition coil. FYI. Thanks

I would recheck the firing order for the plugs as that will be the cause of the back firing
the timing will be 12 degrees advanced

Where is number one spark plug wire on dist for 1950 gmc 216 ci

Since distributor may have been moved, best is to turn engine with #1 plug out until you get to TDC compression stroke on #1, then remove dist cap to see where rotor is pointing.

I changed my dist. cap on 1990 chevy p/u took one

Is the coil connected to the ditributor? did you knock any connections off in the process? Does it turn over but not fire? do you have spark at the plugs? Are you sure of cylinder location in respect to firing order? Did you-and check this first as with any elec. problems-blow a fuse in the ignition circuit? good luck!

Cannot start changing pugs and wires

Sounds like you have the firing order right but your off on the #1 on the distributer. Every time you get an explosion coming from the carb its misfiring. Find the #1 on dist and continue with firing order
