Driver side door was damaged in an accident, looks like only the skin was damaged. Looks like the skin can be easily replaced. Can a back yard mechanic do this job?

The answer here is to buy a good used door from the junkyard. It will probably be cheaper and much less labor. Either way you are still going to have to paint so my choice would to buy a used door. They will let you pcik which one you want. Try to get it painted while the door is still off and change your old door panle from the old door to the new junkyard door.

My 99 Cougar was recently in an accident, and received damage to front driver headlight, and driver door; it now opens and closes with no binding. Do I need a new door or is there another way around this?

Is there signifacant damage to said door? or is it fine? I would have to look at it. I would say leave it if there are no air leaks and it closes tight? It should be fine. buying a new door you would have to paint the door jam and the outer panel. unless by luck you find the same color door at a junk yard.
Good luck

WANT TO REPAIR DOOR HANDLE DRIVER SIDE , ROD CAME OFF FROM INSIDE DOOR, CANNOT OPEN DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, HOW DO I RECONNECT THE ROD?

take the door skin off of the inside of the door. and you will see holes on the inside of the door if you look inside thes holes behind the door skin than you will find you rod in the latch mechanism is either off one side or both. what you then do is find the place the rod is missing from on the inside of the door somewhere and reconnect your rod and pop your door skin back on and you should be good to go.

2001 Chrysler Sebring LX sedan power locks

It is a long shot, but I took my door skins off a while back to access the speakers, and when I put the door skins back on my doors wouldn't lock. It was just a dirty contact switch. I took my driver side door skin back off, cleaned both metal surfaces with a rag and it fixed the problem. I believe the switch is on the back of your lock button, it's a thin piece of metal that looks like a pen clip.

Driver Side Door for a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Bad news...you have just sent your phone # around the world!!! Good news is there should be lots of doors in local scrapyards...most larger yards also work online and can locate one.

Driver side Hatch will not release. Passenger side opens.

At the center of the rear door is a actuator that has rods that go to both side and the clip felloff/broke on the Driver(left)side if it has a handel on the inside if you take that apart you can then pull the inside skin back far enough to pull the rod with a pliers and open the door and then make the repairs

Skin Replacement vs Door Replacement

You can easily get a complete door from an auto wrecker that will be far better than a reskinned door. I didn't think they even did that anymore. You may even be able to get one the same as your existing color so that you wouldn't even have to worry about paint fade differences. Most auto wreckers are on a network and they can put your request out to the whole area and likely come up with one. If the used door route is not an option, then "new" is the only way I would go.

Rear gate (barn doors)

Climb into the back of your Yukon, using a apholstery tool (looks like a bent screwdriver with a claw on the end) or a putty knife and pry the bottom of the inner door skins off cut a 6 inch gash in the clear plastic to expose the door handle mechonizims. spray brake cleaner on the inner latch to clean, then using penitration oil to unsieze. Grab the long metal rod and work it up and down...the should open. repeat to the other door if it will not open as well. I had to replace my barn door inner latches on second barn door. (the door that opens last) with safari barn door latches. I got them from a wrecking yard cheap. ($15.00) to replace at GM....over $200.00. The wrecking yard told me the latches wouldn't work, but I look at the Safari latches and they were identical. My barn doors work perfectly. Hopefully this helps.
