Its like a clicking noise, more then likely it is the starter, you can tap on the starter and see if it starts. First, I would try jumping the vehicle as a dead battery will do the same, even though its a new battery. Good Luck Tim

I would also try cleaning the ground connections. If they're dirty they won't make a good circuit connection and will make that clicking noise.

I have 97 Wrangler when running the battery gauge will drop to 0, if I continue to drive it will not start when i turn it off and resttart it. i have a new battery , the alternater is fine took it

It still sounds like an alternator issue when the vehicle is running you should be showing 14.4 volts going into the battery try a load on the system while checking this means turn everything on the blower the lights 4-ways the A/C everything then see if the charging system can keep up

1996 Grand Jeep Cherokee stalling

no, this will not drain your battery, but it sounds like the battery and charging system are working. there must be a draw on the system, you will need to have someone hook up a tester to check for the draw and work back from what they find.

Check the alternator drive belt adjustment 2- Check battery terminals for corrotion or loose.3- loose, broken or faulty wiring in the charging system. 4- short in the vehicle wiring cause continuous drain of charge., sammyc47

My jeep 1999 Jeep cherokee 4.7l ltd will not crank. The check gages light came on. Jump staring will not help. I bought a new battery problem not solved. please help!

If the engine will not turn over,if the starter does not turn the engine, then tap on the starter with a hammer, lightly, while trying to start it,if it starts, the starter is bad.

Will not turn over - put in new battery-full power, brigt lights, starter will not even click- lights do not dim

Sounds like you have starter or starter solenoid problems try tapping on starter housing with a hammer while someone holds the key in the start position. If that doesn't work using a test light to good engine ground make sure you are getting power to the large wire on the solenoid all the time and the small wire with the key in the start position.GOOD LUCK
