Disconnect the battery for a few minutes and it should clear all the codes turning the light off.

No . With the check engine light on there is probably a DTC diagnostic trouble code stored in the computer . Have code read ,diagnose and repair problem . Suggest you take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop and have if fixed right .

Ive replaced to 02 sensors and my chk engine light still is on, I cant get it smogged. I use high octane and got a scan tool to reset but the codes keep changing

Clear the codes by disconnecting the battery terminals for 5 minutes.You can also clear them with an OBD II scanner. don-ohio

I need a new battery on my '97 honda accord. can't figure out if it's 4 or 6 cylinder. it's used and i don't have a manual. how do i figure it out?

There is a lable (sticker) in engine compartment with info for this car, might be on the hood or radiator support or fender well areas.
See what lable you can find under the hood and read them all , one of them has specs for the engine size.
2.2l - 4cyl.
2.7l - 6cyl.
The other way , see how many wires coming out of ignition distributor , if it's 4 - you have 4cyl. , if it's 7 - you have 6cyl.

97 sunfire,2-door with sunroof. The airbag stays on. How can I reset it?

The airbag system with perform a self diagnostic when engine operation is ititiated. The airbag light will come on during the self check. If the diagnostic program find no faults the light will de-illuminate. But in this situation the light remain on which means the diagnostic program has detected a fault. There is no way to re set a failure on a self diagnostic. Repair of the system is the only option in this case.

My 97 escort 2.0l has a miss fire and I replaced the plugs and the wires and also the coil pack. It ran fine for a couple of weeks then the miss firing and something new showed up. A very loud chattering...

Hey, well 1st. If the engine light came on I would scan 4 error codes or have any auto shops scan it 4 you so you can clearly know where to start and how serious is it. As if it died on ya a few times already, it may b somthing big and u not doing yr self any favers by keep pushing that cas., a specialy if thats the 1 that feeds you At the moment ????. 2001 s-10 wont start sometimes

Ignition Switch Problem THE ELECTRICAL SIDE Under Collum Cover left side of Collum. Looks Like you Covered all other Bases.
And Fiddeling with Switch Sometimes Makes it work , A buddy of Mines 95 s10 did the Same thing and I replaced ING Switch and Never again did he have that Problem.

Tapping noise

The first Zetec engine appeared in 1992, powering the fourth generation of the European Ford Escort and Orion. It was codenamed as the "Zeta" engine before Italian car maker Lancia threatened to sue Ford for trademark infringement as it already owned the name. Ford hurriedly renamed the engine "Zetec".

Early versions of the engine (prior to mid 1998) came complete with self-adjusting hydraulic valves. This helped prevent the notorious valve tapping (on the CVH) but caused other issues. The biggest problem was that a special Ford formulation of oil was required otherwise the valves tended to stick. Similarly, failure to regularly rev the engine above 4000 rpm also led to valve sticking. For these reasons, conventional tappets with shims were introduced in 1998.
