If the engine is running well and there are no codes stored in the computer, check the exhaust system. It's possible that a heat shield has rotted off. An easy fix for that problem is to buy a heat shield mat that you can put under the rug in that area. I have one but have no idea who makes them.
To find one check with off road and racing publications or sources...perhaps summit racing or another similar supplier sells them. You can also shield the floor by making a metal plate that fits between the exhaust or transmission (whatever is causing the heat) and screwing it to the underside of the vehicle using stand-offs or bending a lip onto it so it has about 1/2"air space when installed. That will act as a heat-sink.
A pipe that is running hotter than normal can be caused by improper engine timing or overly lean fuel mixture. A failing catalytic converter can do that as well. A transmission that is running overly hot can be doing that if the cooler is internally or externally obstructed. But, if everything is OK, just do what I said.

Well I would take it to an exhaust/muffler shop and ask them to take a look underneath it. Catalytic converter should have been replaced twice already on a car this old.

00 Eldorado switches gears, but won't drive/reverse, why?

Correct. When trans is fully hot (about 15 min. driving, or since you can't drive, about 20 min. idle time) with engine running in park, fill until level with mark labeled "Hot".

I was driving then temp. gauge went hot and it stalled checked by coolant fine now it starts but when you put in gear it goes 10 feet then stalls and wont restart for about 20 min.

Check if the fan turns on a few minutes after a cold start. It may be a problem with the fuse or the relay. Check if you loose coolant, there may be a leak somewhere, the hose, bad fuel pump, radiator leaks or a bad radiator cap.

My 1989 Chevy Corvette,( 350 automatic ) the

More than likely the heater valve is stuck open. You can usually purchase them from the local parts house. As far as the ride most of these cars ride this way. You can update the suspension with newer designs and shocks to allow a softer ride and can even get suspension that is adjustable allowing you to set the ride and performance yourself to your liking. Air suspension is probably also available to allow maximum soft ride.

The part time light is on

start car put it in neutral shift 4x4 lever into 4x4 low then drive a few feet. now shift main trans back to neutral then move 4x4 shifter back to 2wd high for normal driving then shift in drive and drive for a few min light should turn off..if nor disconnect battery for 15 min to reset computer and see if that does it. if that doesnt work you may need 4x4 linkage adjusted ..do you have a lift?
