run the fault codes to confirm what you have been told or find out exactly what has gone wrong in the sensor department.

1999 Nissan Maxima, after sitting for a while the engine will start and run only for 1 or 2 sec then engine stops. Try to restart but engine just cranks, will not run. thanks, Roy

you either need fuel filter replacement or fuel pump. filter should be under the passanger rear in front of rear tire on frame rail, fuel pump is in the gas tank the tank needs to be removed for replacement i would try the filter first there only about 20 or 30 dollars and pretty simple to change

Your crankshaft sensor doesn't always make the light blink. I'm almost positive it your crankshaft sensor.

Takes a while to crank up sometimes. Just replaced the battery. now the car starts but then it loses power. it does crank back up.

there was a problem with the fuel pumps on those cars that if u spin the motor for more than 3 sec and it does not crank replace fuel pump wich would also be the problem with the car shutting back off

I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima. The car starts but after awhile it stops. To keep the car running I have to keep pumping the gas. I'm wondering if the problem is witht the starter or the alternator.

Hello, the alternator nor the battery will give this issue. How many miles are on the car? Have you ever had the fuel filter changed or the fuel system serviced?

My max has 166K miles and was running fine. My daughter started it and it would not go above 2000 rpm and was running rough, then it just quit. I checked spark, battery, replaced fuel pump and fuel...

This is why we do not let girls drive..... OKAY just kidding.

I suggest that you chech the pickup filter and the normal fuel filter for contamination.

Replace the coolant sensor. If the system were to decide that it is too hot, it can shut down, after the "limp home" mode runs out.
