Bronco Wont Start (help please)

1981 bronco 302 ... full size

One day the bronco started to backfire real bad.
I was maybe 2 miles from home and it kept running
till I got about 1 block from home then it died.
I coasted into driveway...parked...turned the key off
then back on and it started for about 2-3 seconds then died.
Ever since then it wont start....turns over but wont start.

These are what was replaced.
1)main relay
2)Coil
3)Ignition module
4)crank sensor
5)fuel filter
6)Fuel pump

It gets spark and fuel.
Had fuses checked...all good.
Had gas poured into (Holley) carb.
Yes the carburator isnt the original one.

Check for timing gear problems. They have plastic teeth on the cam shaft gear which will shatter causing it to jump time.

1981 ford bronco failed emissions twice

Look behind the motor, next to the firewall. There's a vacuum check valve that keeps the air gulp pump from pressurizing the crankcase. Mine was shot; had the same symtoms. Also, make sure that the EGR valve is closing at low idle.

You don't need an engine light to check the codes. First, do a KOEO (key on, engine off), but, let me tell you, when this happened to me (1986 Full size with 302 EFI, multiport injection) NOTHING showed up. No one, not Ford, not emission specialists, nada, knew the vacuum check valve existed.

By the way; are you getting motor oil in the air filter housing?

Car will not start

take a test light and check the small wire that for the ignition switch, is there power going to the solinoid? if so then need to have someone start it and test to see if there power for sol to starter. if so then starter is at fault or just take a jumper from batter to starter and see if it works. if so then sol may be your issuel

Bronco wont start.

Try hitting the starter with a hammer but not too hard,if it then starts then the brushes in the starter are bad, usually only 2 of the 4 go bad and they dont make contact, the brush kit is only $20.00 and real easy to change,a new rebuilt starter is about $90.00,my starter went out in the middle of winter on my 94 Bronco when i was parked over a water puddle, boy was i wet!..Now for the other persons problem it may be the ignition switch at the base of the column which is about a $10.00 part and 2 screws
