My ECU fuse keeps blowing every time I turn the key on. The 2002 Mazda protege wont start either, it just died going down the road. It acts like it wants too though.

The only way to confirm if the problem is the cap or the wires is:

switch the two wires with spark with the two without and see if you have spark there now if not put the old distributor cab back ok.

If you bought your replacement parts from a discount parts store expect them to be bad mazda is the most pickey pickey car line out there I had one mazda that would not absolutely not run on anything but mazda parts

That just isn't possible if the coil wire goes in the cap and the rotor turns the rotor sends fire to the coil towers as it passes by call me or I'll call you

Everything seems to be working but it won't start.I'm not getting spark. Turns over fine.Is there a collision button on this car and do you k now where it is ?

The collision reset you're asking about is called the fuel shut off switch. It only kills the fuel supply or shuts off the fuel pumps to the engine when an accident occurs.

Your problem could be caused by a relay or a fuse but I would pull the codes from the ECU first, that way you know what area to look at. If I had to guess, I'd say your crank position sensor was probably bad.

Make sure you're getting spark at the spark plugs. You can do this by arching the plug to the engine block Just Google "how to test spark plugs". If there is a spark then it could be your timing, which is what happened to my wife's car, once we replaced everything, this was the final thing which solved her problem.

Your car has both a crank and cam position sensor. First start with your crankshaft position sensor. It is located by the harmonic balancer on the front of the motor.

Car turns over but wont start what is wrong?

The car is either not getting gas or not getting spark. It could be a weak battery, bad spark plugs or wires, bad coil pack/distributor, clogged fuel filter or spark plugs, or a defective fuel pump. These are the most common causes of this problem and and except the fuel pump and sometime fuel filter are relatively easy to replace yourself. Good luck and happy hunting!

1992 vw Cabriolet. replaced dist cap, rotor, plugs, wires, Getting spark but will not start. Any ideas?

check grounding first,
replace coil- not expensive.
check the module connected to the computer(ECU).

getting the spark is a good sign!
try those first

BTW- NKG spark plugs beat BOSCH.

good luck!

if either

Car turns over great getting fuel and spark but wont start

Spark without fuel = just spark. :) Are you getting fuel movement? You could have a bad/clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump - could be a few things. Check to make sure you're getting fuel.

Car will not start

All the things you replaced were a great place to start. I would suspect the ignition coil. approx. 119.00 for OEM a lot less at the parts store.
