My wifes ford mustang is blowing smoke through vents. When I poped the hood I could see that a part on the pulley system was smoking. I believe it is what pushes air through the vents b/c when i turned the a/c and ventilation system of it stoped. I need to know what part that is so i can replace it. As you look at the engine it is attatched to the far left pulley.

Not knowing if you have a single serpentine belt or separate belt for the AC compressor, this is most likely the compressor bearings out. If the belt is smoking, and it has its own AC compressor belt I would recommend cutting the belt off so it does not break and cause other damage under the hood.
The speed control of your fan has resisters that are in the venting system to blow air on them to keep them cool. If they overheat and or burn you will lose your low and medium speeds of the fan. If you run the fan at full see if the smell goes away. Your engine could be burning oil on the outside of the engine block, make sure that the weatherstrip where your hood meets the fresh air intake grill is sealing tight.
I have a 2001 mustang gt with ac i dont have air comming out of the front vents so i bought heater controls and no difference then i found a yellow vacume line off but cant find where it goes can any one help me !!!!!! thanks mary
Check for a vacuum leak. Follow the black vacuum hose from the vacuum tree under the hood at the firewall to inside the car. It runs from the left side of the car near the brake booster to the right side near the accumulator.
