As a rule the late model vehicles use such thin material in the core ,repair is not possible, for the price of a new one ,I would suggest he not waste his time on repair.

Are the heater core hoses hot? If so then you will need to replace the air temperature control blend door and its electric actuator. If this is the problem you can speed the repair time (10 hours) by using a kit called a Heaterbeater. You can buy the kits on eBay.

Smoke coming through vents temp. gauge going up acting like its going 2 overheat turn heater on hot and smokes bad turn to cool and smokes a little my husband thinks it's the thermostat and wants to...

If the heater core is leaking, you would get a lot of steam that would smell "sweet". That would also leave you low on coolant, which could be a source of your overheating. If it's more of an electrical smell, you may have a blower motor or a blower motor resistor going bad, but won't cause the engine to overheat.

How do you replace the heater core in a 1992 Ford Ranger STX V-6 4.0?

May be the easiest heater core i have ever replaced.Disconnect the two hoses going into firewall on the passenger side.Locate a small cover just underneath the glove box .Should be about 10 x 3 inches and have 8 screws i think. It is on the bottom of heater box.remove the screws and cover and pull out the heater core. You are now half way.reverse procedure and you are done.Good Luck!

How long to change heater core on 1999 ford ranger and can this be done from engine compartment or from inside truck cab

The heater core is located inside the cab behind the glove box. The dash has to be removed to replace it. the outside evaporator case has to be unbolted to gain access to the nuts holding the heater case to the firewall. If you are not comfortable removing the dash, have a qualified person do it.

Heater won't warm up. need to see diagram of fuse box for 1989 Ford Ranger.

Is the issue that the blower fan is not functioning? If it is functioning, then your issue is not electrical, and more likely that your heater core needs replaced. After the truck is warmed up, are the two hoses that enter the firewall on the passenger side under the hood warm to the touch, or is 1 warm on the other cold?

My Ford Ranger

my 86 ranger heater core was behind the glove box, not to hard to replace, remove two hoses and access cover.
speedocable connects behind instrument panel and to the side of transmission. (electrical ones are easier, just a small component on the side of trans.)
i think you mean FUEL gauge? there is a sending unit inside the fuel tank (sometimes fuel level sending unit is combined with the fuel pump) buy yourself a Haynes manual #36071
