This issue is almost always the sending unit, in the tank. Test that, which is easier said than done....You usually have to drop the fuel tank for access.

The BCM doesn't control the oil gauge (or any gauge for that matter), chances are you have a defective oil pressure sending unit ON THE ENGINE..

2001 Buick lesabre gas guage not working, heated seats not workin

I have a 2001 and just replaced the fuel pump assembly in the tank because the fuel gauge didn't work or worked irratic. After talking to the partsman it sounded like this was common. The contact for the sensor wears away and looses contact. You will see that the new fuel pump module has different type of metal wiper contact. As for the heated seats, I have an issue with driver side also and haven't had a chance to look into it yet.

Fuel gauge seems to stick -- irratic readings

I've researched this problem thoroughly as all of my gauges on my '04 Bonneville GXP are producing erratic readings. The only two solutions are to replace the entire cluster which can cost in excess of $700 or replace the six "stepper" motors behind the cluster. Replacing them can only be done by deslodering the old ones and soldering in replacement ones.
