Question about 1994 Chevrolet Lumina

1 Answer

94 chevy lumina with 3.1 v-6 has a missfire under load and while looking at the data stream through my scan tool the rpm signal is erratic while the actual engine speed doesnt change. the data will show up to 4300 rpm while it is idling. tried replacing ign module, didnt fix it, had new prom made, didnt fix it. i dont think its the crank sensor since it shows an rpm signal its just erratic. any help would be greatly appreciated

Tachometer not working what needs to be replaced

If you scan the computer via OBD under the dash you should be able to read rpm data. if the rpm is available in the datastream than it would be save to start looking at a used cluster. no rpm in data stream means computer/sensor issues.

2006 chevy trailblazer dome light will not shut off

There is no fuse marked for dome light's in the rear fuse box. The BCM - body control module controls the dome / courtesy light's .
The body control module (BCM) monitors the courtesy lamp switch signal circuit in order to determine when the courtesy/dome lamps should be illuminated. When the BCM senses that the courtesy lamp switch signal circuit is grounded when the switch is activated, the BCM will directly illuminate the courtesy/dome lamps.

You should possibly think about taking your vehicle to a qualified repair shop !
Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
With a scan tool, observe the courtesy lamp switch parameter in the body control module (BCM) data list.
Does the scan tool display INACTIVE?
YES - Go to Step 3
NO - Go to Step 4

Activate the courtesy lamp switch.
With the scan tool, observe the courtesy lamp switch data parameter.
Does the courtesy lamp switch data parameter change state?

• Test the courtesy lamp switch for sticking in the ON position.
• Perform a visual inspection for loose or poor connections at all related components. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

gm has a problem with this from way back. double check your spark plugs and if they are not ac delcos, change them. ive seen this time and time again swearing, myself, that there is no way that the plugs would cause this issue. it always comes up with random misfire and usually another 1 or 2 codes misfire codes. put in ac delco, no more codes. let me know
