No, and i believe you have a timing chain. Do you have the engine apart? Would you like instructions for replacing the chain? Which engine do you have? DOHC?

It is just as old and has as much use as the belt, and it is a wear item. do you want to take it back apart in a month or two to replace that? an ounce of prevention.

Why do i need to change cam belt and tensioner at the same time? is it a must?

I think that if belt is wore out that the tensioner wont be to far behind it or the reverse if you change tensioner the belt cant be far behind , and its not something you want to go back in and do over in a few thousand miles .I hope this was helpful.

Why is my new mechanic insisting that i change timing belt and tensioner at the same time. can some body tell me why

A tensioner will generally outlast only one timing belt, Longa, and it's a lot cheaper (for YOU) to change both at the same time than it is to open the engine twice - once for the belt, and again later for the tensioner.

I changed my timing belt, water pump and I belive the harmonic tensioner when my rodeo turned 100k. A year later I heard a knocking noise coming from the area where the timing belt is located. The noise...

Yes its the correct name. Yes it should have been replaced..... but its up to the mechanics advice and the customer. its not normally replaced, but I replace all parts including the water pump, just as a matter off service, to avoid your exact problem.

Hi, i have a 2003 toyota camry v6. everyone is saying the the bearings will need to be changed if i am going to change the timing belt. is this true thanks

If you change the timing belt it is reccomended to also change the tensioner and idler pulleys as well, depending on the mileage. You can change just the belt but it is a little risky, considering you can't actively see what's going on in there. If your timing belt slips on that engine, There's a good chance of doing major damage.

2001 Chevy venture belt keeps coming off tensioner pulley. Why is this happening?

you most likely have to change the tensioner assembly some people just change the pulley itself but the arm that the pulley bolts to wears out allowing the arm to shift a little bit forcing the belt to walk off the pulley thats why when it comes to changing a noisey pulley its best to change the whole tensioner

What else needs to be changed when doing a timing belt on a 1999 honda accord? and about how much should it cost?

Technically, nothing else needs to be changed when replacing a timing belt, however it is recommended or suggested to replace the timing belt tensioner and water pump while doing the belt. These items are only accessable when doing a timing belt. The cost should be under $100.00

Timing belt jumped... why?

This can be caused by not tensioning the belt corectly. When fitting a new belt you should allways replace the tensioner, and make sure the water pump pulley is in good working order. Its always wise to get your timming belt from the dealer.as others are nown to be faulty.Fit new belt follow manuel when doing so.good luck
