How can I fix fouled plugs on a 00 Lincoln Navigator? It blew one and is showing codes for misfire in several cylinders. Idling bad and shuttering.

replace all the plugs, note what type of fouling is on the plugs as this will give you an idea what is causing the fouling. white indicates coolant burning, black indicates fuel fowling, oily indicates burning oil, etc.

Replace sensor it gets a groove worn in it

there is supposed to be an air gap between the sensor and the rotor so if it is wearing out then the gap is not there. This will also be a problem for the running
If it is just one plug that is fowling (oil or fuel) the go to a spares shop and get a hotter plug to burn off the fowling
Plugs come in heat ranges from cold to hot and are used specifically when problems occur.
also replace that HT lead as they break down in the centre and don't fire properly

How you know when you have bad fuel injecter

you would need to do an injector balance test with a scan tool to see how the injector reacts to the test. rough idle my be caused from a number of issues including bad motor mounts, bad gas, incorrect spark plugs, or incorrect spark plug gap, bad idle air control valve, air in cooling sys, etc....

I have 353 and 171 codes. Car has erratic idle and is sluggish on acceleration. Have replaced plugs and wires.

Hi,

The 353 code is howing that you have a ignition coil pack fault.
The 171 code is showing that you have a fuel lean out problem in bank one.

This could be fuel pressure, injector timing, fowl fuel, blocked inlet tract system.

Check these areas out and you should fix your erractic problem.

Thanks

Jason

My 93 chevy 4.3 is dumping way to much fuel. I have changed module, o2 sensor, map, timing, temp sensor, and computer.truck runs good at idle but burns very rich and fowls plugs(7 mpg)

check to see if one of the injectors is pouring more gas than the other while idiling. if one of them is check the wires going to it to see if there is a short. if not the injector is probably junk.

Stalls or pulls when you press on gas

Hello, I would first do a general tune up. Replace the oil, fuel, and air filter. I would next change your Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires, Distributor Cap and Rotary Button. This may be just a clogged fuel or air filter or your spark plugs are fowled out and they need replaced as well. I would first however check your brakes becuase you say it pulls correct; this may be bad brakes and rotors and grabbing so I would inspect and check these first and if they are not bad I would move onto the tune up ok. If you have any questions email me back. I hope you have good luck!

Motor shaking ( Elantra 2002,115,000 km)

Could be that plug wire, pull that plug wire and see if there is a spark while cranking the engine( you will need an asisstant). 2nd thing, could be a fowled or bad fuel injector.
