Question about 1995 BMW 5 Series

1 Answer

1995 bmw 525i will not turn over, in the engine check display "oil level sensor" is coming up. If this sensor is faulty will it stop the car from running or is it just coincidental and the car has another fault?

It's coincidental. Not turning over is a battery or starter Try jump starting. Your oil sensor is sensor on side/bottom of pan and is probably sticking or wires are disconnected.

So this sensor if faulty will not stop the car from running? the wires are connected, the battery is almost new when I turn the key to the start position I get the boing and "oil level sensor" and the engine will not turn over.

    Thanks for your advice

My 1995 bmw 525i keep flashing that the oil is low even after my most recent oil change, plus it keeps flashing owners manual as well

I would replace the oil level sensor in the side of the oil pan, they are notorious for giving false low oil warnings.

We have a 1995 BMW 525i. I need to replace some

My bmw dealer said that the Mass Air Flow Sensor needed to be replaced. The car would not run. It will start, idle. upon excelleration it chokes and dies. The "check engine" light is on. I disconnected the MAS and the car runs fantastic. SOOOO, I ordered a MAS and installed it. Reconnected the unit and the same problem occured. Is there a fuse relay under the hood or back seat that I can replace?

Hi i have BMW 525i 2004 from time to time when

It is very important that the engine not overheat! The head can crack and this would be very bad.
I think your car is too new to need a new radiator.
Make sure the coolant level is correct.
Check the thermostat housing for leaks.
When the engine is hot, check if the fan clutch is locked up and actually driving the fan. Turn the engine off and grab the fan and try to turn it. It should turn stiffly. If it spins freely the fan clutch is dead.
It is possible that the water pump impeller has failed, especially if it is a plastic one.

I have a 2004 bmw 525i after driving for about 50km the alarm comes on telling me the oil level is yet it is at the correct level on dip stick thanks max

3 things it could be
1/ is the oil pump is not getting enough oil
2/ the oil is the wrong type for your car as you should be running 20W 40 SHELL.
3/ You have a OPLS(oil pressure light switch) in the engine and that could be faulty.
SO try No 2 first (drain and refill) then try it on a long run if still playing up then let me know Ron

Can't find oil level stick in engine compartment 2006 bmw 525i Whould you tell me where is it?

The BMW 525I doesn't have a dip stick. The oil level is checked using the "i" menu. Select service status and from there you should choose "check engine oil level".
